Well my car got rear-ended today. Came out from lunch to find that my rear passenger side tail light was cracked. My trunk closes but it makes a loud noise when I open it and the trunk relase (from inside thecar) take a little effort to get the trunk to pop. I think that the trunk didn't get bent but the metal that surrounds the taillight got bent which means that there is now a gap when I close my trunk.
Called my insurance and filed a hit an run claim. Unfortunatley my deductible is high so I'll be looking at paying for the work myself. already called Carlsen and a new OEM rear tail light assembly is $180 or I can get some aftermarket ones. Gonna head down there Monday to check them out. I just need to find a place that can make sure that my trunk and the surrounding metal match up.
Sucks....just felt like ranting.

Gosh I cannot stand the senseless people out there nowadays. I actually witnessed a hit and run the other day in downtown Walnut Creek. I was sitting outside by the sidewalk facing the street at a local restaurant, lunch hour rush, mind you. There's an empty space right out front on the street, available for parallel parking, a car in the space ahead and a brand new FX45 (dealer papers still showing) to the rear of the space. A man in a deep red MB CLK500 (looked fairly new also) pulls in and attempts to park. I kid you not, it was something like a 10-15 point parking job. I was sitting there laughing to myself along with other people seated around me. Finally, he's in the spot nice and good, BTW his spot was by no means tight, he had plenty of room. He stops, must've thought he had it in park, reverse lights come on, and his car LURCHES rearward, crushing his deep red painted bumper into the brand new silver paint of the FX behind. As we all gaped in astonishment, he calmly pulls forward a few feet, gets out, inspects the FX's bumper, and then looks up at everyone staring and says, "No big deal, no damage done." He grabs his stuff out of his car and walks away. Everyone there was absolutely shocked by such behavior. Needless to say, my gf and I went out there, inspected the damage (the CLK500's bumper was CRACKED all the way across, there were only a few scuffs on the FX, but it was brand new and it was his fault) we wrote up his license plate number saying what happened and left it on the FX's windshield. Whether it's damaged or not, you should always leave your insurance number, license number, etc.
Sorry to threadjack, this just reminded me of that. Sorry to hear about your car, do you have pics of the damage?

Nope no pics as my brother has my digital camera and he's in Maui right now.

That really sucks, bro... I feel your pain.
I get bumped at least once a month by some moronic parallel parker in SF -- my bumper looks like someone chiped at it 50 times with a chisel

Yup! I really hate it when people just don't care about anything but themselves. My car is full of dents and a damage on my hood and bumper when someone backed into my car, took off without any notes or anything.
