all that vid showed me, was that the EVO responds better to someone that doesnt "know" how to handle the car. If you put that STi in the hands of someone that knows how to drive a suby, it would have been ALOT faster.....that guy just about understeered into the grass more than a couple of times, and nearly had to come to a stop to correct it......IMO thats Driver error.....

So, Ted, how do you handle a Suby? Really, I'd like to drive better myself.

W00t! +1

Those crazy brits left out far too much detail to give an over all 'this one is better'.
They are both excellent cars, if I had enough money, I would own one of each.

huh? i agree with "know your car" but they're both AWD cars driven by someone who do not know either car's characteristics. the race looks fair to me....

I'd buy an EVO if Mitsu didn't make it.

PS: The color on that WR-1 is fugly! Looks like something you'd see in a hot import nights show.

Why didn't they test it against the spec C?

Also, one last thing, I think the oversteer is due to the suspension, mainly sway bars on the subie. If it had a smaller front, bigger rear, I think it'd eliminate the understeer. (Or stiffer rear end in general)

I am just saying that it seems like the understeer on the STI is less forgiving than on the EVO......IOW, the handling of the EVO will cater more toward someone that has never driven the car before......whereas the STI is either a "do it good, or dont do it at all" type handling car.

I dunno......just didnt seem like testing the cars limits with an unaware driver is not a way to really test the *cars limits, but more of seeing how that car will perform in the hands of someone that doesnt know the car.......

Basically Petter Solberg could have made that exact same STI run WAAAAAY better numbers than the EVO. So in a comparison of BOTH cars.....get a Pro driver that is a EVO driver, and an equivalently skilled STI driver, they will push both of those cars way harder than those dudes did, thus truly testing the thoery "which CAR is faster/better handling/etc....", instead of how well can these guys can jump in and, drive these cars around a track.....

again this is just my opinion.....no pun intended, just didnt seem right to me thats all <shrug>

I could be wrong though.....maybe I am just biased toward the Suby, and dont want to accept that the evo could possibly be a better car. NAAAAH....thats not it.

Well Im not a huge Evo fan but I think it has been established that the Evo has better handling characteristics than the STI. The STI will understeer less if you back off the throttle more but it will still run a slower time. The spec -c might of been a better match for the MR but the STI was still slower than a regular EVO-8.
