Update:
Compression test 2:190 4:200 1:168 3:150, Tested T-stat ok, Plugged hole in radiator, refilled restarted, cap off, overheated.
Pulled apart T-stat, refilled, restarted cap off, bubbles in the funnel; smelled like exhaust. Oh my... Blown head gasket.
My synopsis:
A couple of weeks ago, I had the same problem got stuck heading out to boulder; Pulled apart T-stat. It made it home. A couple weeks later I get back from NY, cars flooded with like 1 1/2" of water in the passenger footwell. Freakin' soaked. I desperate need for some heat and defrost, I installed a new T-stat. I did fine hanging around SJ for a week. I went up the hill heated it up and pushed the head gasket. The cylinder pressure forced all of the coolant out of the radiator overflow. No doubt the trip home didn't do it any good. So it's done... Another one bites the dust. I'll probably throw the Rotas up forsale, they have New Pirelli P-Zero Neros.

While heading down Bearcreek Rd. Last night, The temp gauge on the Lagacy pegged out and blew the safety plug on the radiator. I pulled over to check things out and let things cool off. I called AAA to come get me; they said I only had 5 miles worth of towing and I'd have to pay the rest of the way. I decided to turn it around and start heading for home. It was smoking and steaming like crazy the whole way. I made it all the way to the 85/Almaden Expy Exit(1/2 mile from home) where it died at the stop light. This bugger is toast. Luckily I've been working an 05 LGT wagon for the last couple of weeks. It should be available later this week.
ADMIN: Can I get my "Blue name" changed to the "Engine Killer" This is officially the 9th Subaru motor I have blown since Dec 17 05. I think I have earned it....
Someone please report this to the Admin so they can see my request.

In re: to the your member status/special title under your screen name, what do we do? Start a petition? Picket? Hold a sit-in? Hug a tree? What? I'm all for the change, but I think "Engine SERIAL Killah" is more appropo. Without the word "serial," it like ya blew one... two tops.
Sadly, I actually know a couple folks that this li'l quote describes their intellect/common sense/etc. to a tee!

Bummed today. Apparently the people who traded the Legacy in couldn't get financed for their new purchase. Their deal fell through. No car for me. Boooo. It was freakin' nice too.

It was very nice. They are so few and far between. This is going to be a tough one to land. I really don't want to buy a new one. If I have to I'll be looking for an '08 Forester Sport.

Sucks to hear about the legacy... I am glad to find out that I am not the only person to blow one of those... That's too bad on the 05 LGT... I would kill to have one of those!
