You know that might be an option for my other friend.

The 5.0 can be difficult for a first-time driver, plus it helps for your last car to be FWD when you first get a WRX.

but the 5.0 is around 2k and the civic is 9k. Btw these are the cars that they are getting, i was just wondering what you guys thought of our arguement.
For another $5-6k you can turn that mustang into on heck of a track car. If he is only going to keep it for a few months, let me know when it goes for sale. I know of a few people right now that would grab a clean fox body and turn it into a race car.
I don't know. I guess I'm bias about this subject. I disagree that a mustang is difficult to work on. I grew up around mustangs. I've changed motors in a day, swapped trannys in about two ours, and rear ends in about an hour. Plus the parts are cheap. Super easy to get real performace out of them. The main thing you've got to change is the rear suspension. Put a good torque arm and a panhard bar or watts link in there and then put a good set of brakes on it. That way it can actually handle and stop. The factory quadra-"BIND" rear suspension is really the main problem area in these cars. The angles of the control arms in the back cause the whole deal to bind when the suspension compresses. This is why mustangs are known as tail happy cars. Long blocks and short blocks can be had for cheap. Around $1000 for a short block and $1900 for a long block. Those are Ford list prices. Aftermarket companies charge even less. Trannys can be found everywhere. All in all, it's a much better starting point than a civic can ever become.

The mustang for sure! i happen to own 2 mustangs along with a civic for me to commute in. good gas mileage is great, but it isnt nearly as fun to drive as the mustangs are. and it sounds nothing compared to the mustangs.

Car Info: Not a WRX any more . . .
The mustang will be a lot of fun in whatever fraction of the time it's not in the shop. I've had two mustangs . . . occasionally I'm tempted to try one again but then I have flashbacks to all the places those cars stranded me (Kansas in the winter, Rocky Mountains on a mountain pass, and the Utah desert in the middle of summer to name a few) and how much it cost to keep the things running. The second Mustang turned me into a Toyota owner, and I'm still recovering.
