Ok so heres the story, two of my friends are getting new cars. One wants a 1993 Mustang Gt 5.0 the other wants a 2000 Civic Si. The mustang is about 3-4k while the Civic is about 9k. So the thing is we always argue about the two cars and about which one is better, So which car would you rather have? which is better in your opinion? In time both will be modded. BTW im by far for the Mustang.

 

well.. the mustang is a lot older than the civic......

but a civic... well, it's a HONDA!

Mustangs are probably some of the easiest cars to work on and to modify. The only thing that I would look out for is that 1993 was the first year that Ford used hyperutechtic (sp) pistons. From 85 until then, they had forged pistons. If the car has been abused with a blower or nitrous that might be an issue. Other than that, it's an excellent car with a huge aftermarket. As for the honda, well, it's a honda. I wouldn't use for more than a commuter. maybe not even that.

Neither, I'd bet a suby. ;p Civics are cool for chicks and a 5.0 would be great for highschool Harry, plus it looks as if it has the aerodynamics of a brick. If he wants reliablity and good gas milage defenitely the honda, and if he wants to go fast for cheap while making alot of noise the 5.0 defenitely. Either way once you start to mod either of these cars the po factor is greatly increased. How about an 87 grand national

Neither. Screw the SI. He can get a S14 Kouki ('97-'98) for like 6k and spend the rest of the money on suspension or an SR20DET swap, have a fast, fun car that looks decent.

 

CIVIC CAUSE THE MUSTANG WILL HAVE TO BE REBUILT IN A MONTH OR TWO.

The 93 mustang had a worse motor than the 92, with hyper pistons instead of forged

 

93 was an example, not sure on the year yet. BTW we were basically arguing about performance, we were saying the civic is a commuter and if u want to go fast why not buy a better car to go fast in. my friends only going to have the mustang for a little under 6 months, just enough to get ready and have the money for a wrx.

 

if he's only going to have it for < 6 months, i'd get the civic. Save money on gas, drive the hell out of it. It would handle good enough to have fun in. Plus, in 6 months, he could probably end up selling it for what he paid for it easy.

Not to mention save money on gas.

You could probably find a 94 gsr for under 5k as well, just a thought

 

Now that I got my WRX, I'm selling a 2000 Civic SI with a few good "non-rice" mods (Mugen Exhaust, Koni Yellows, H&R Springs, Enkei forged wheels, Comptech reat swaybar and more). 52,XXX miles. Maybe it would be a good fit for your friend...PM me for more info if you need it.

I would have to go with the civic you can drive a honda engine down to it's last breath w/o having to worry about it. Plus if he wanted to sell it he could still turn a profit. Yes I know there is a big rice facor involved but they are also easily upgradable. I personally would never buy American especially a Rustang. Just my .02...

ive driven a si and i can seriously say for the price the thing can handle and is quite a handful of fun... think about it, low gas mileage, 8k redline, nice suspension, decent interior, and most of all reliable

yeah its a honda but being that your other choice is a ford (A 93 MUSTANGE AT THAT its a no brainier
