Android 2.2 Froyo Update

Who has received the froyo update for their android phone?

My wife got hers yesterday, but I am still waiting.

Its suppose to have flash and google chrome. I have been checking my phone every 5 seconds for the update,

Anyway who has already gotten the update, and what is your first impression of it?

Just root your phone and get it months before the "official" release is out. Also, I believe different phones have different release dates for OS updates.

Me and technology don't get along well enough for me to try something like that

I have it on my EVO. Seems to run a little faster.

^^ Same here. Runs a bit smoother and faster. Change in app icons. Haven't tried Chrome yet tho.

Will never have it on the Behold 2

But trade off is its one of the only phones you can use on TMO network that allows you to get 3G, and use the cheapest unlimited data plans they have: from $4.99-$5.99 Tzones, to $10 web2go. I'll save $20-25 a month in exchange for not having latest and greatest.

I did have Mytouch Slide, phone was great, too bad TMO blacklist IMEI on all their Android phones for anything BUT $30 or $25 data plans, again except the aforementioned behold 2.

**Secret** Only other phone that will allow you to use the cheap data plans on TMO and connect to their 3G network is the Nexus One. It's not a tmo branded phone reason being, but who knows TMO will continue to let that happen. Of course you can used unlocked Android phones, but you wont get 3G, thats why the behold2 and nexus one are the only 2

Flash is available in the market, flash player 10.1 that is.

Been using Froyo for about 4 weeks now on a Cynagenmod ROM and it works well on my Droid. Have it running clocked at 1ghz with no issues and much faster general speeds all round.

I know for my Hero, it's an unbrickable phone. I'm sure most other Android based phones are similar. I normally wouldn't mess around with my phone either, considering without a plan it's several hundred $$ to replace, but knowing I can always reflash it back to stock if I ever mess it up, made it much more comforting for me to try doing this stuff.

I'm running it on my EVO. Definitely faster than 2.1, runs more apps though, and app killer seems not to be able to stop this. So battery life is slightly worse. (although, I have been hitting over 10hrs daily with use over wifi.) Once I go 4g, **** is awesome, esp the video quality on Sprint TV, it's great. I am going to LOVE NFL season this year, hopefully I will get games on ESPN!

is it true that the original droid wont have hotspot capabilities?

if true i find this odd since you can tether the phone without the update, i think verizon is just trying to get people to buy the newer phones which is understandable, but i spent a bagillion dollars on the droids for my wife and I.

I have tethering on my droid so I don't believe that's the case, it's possible it was just burnt into this rom but I see it on the market for free to download.

can someone teach me or do the root thingy for me on my HTC Incredible? I want to get rid of a few programs that came pre-installed.

And how do i get this 2.2 upgrade?
