**** Cop in Santa Cruz

Just wanted to let you guys in SC know, to look out for motorcycle cops. I got pulled over yesterday for tint and no front license plate, he mentioned the exhaust too, but I have a Magnoflo which is quiet, so I called B.S. on that. I did nothing wrong as far as the rules of the road.

He asked me to pop the hood, I called my SJPD friend while the cop waited, and he told me it would make things a lot easier if I did and that I would get the ticket anyway. The cop then took about 10 pictures of the car; Funny thing is, so did a bunch of tourists that were standing around admiring the car.

Needless to say I got the Smog Ref ticket, no front plate, and exhaust, guess he forgot about the tint.

I'll probably just pay the fine, rather than turning a TXS STG 4 with a FMIC back to stock.

You blatantly disregard the law with tint and no front plate, what do you expect will happen? Sucks but he probably would've not pulled you over if not for those telltale signs of law breaking.

IIRC, You can't "just pay the fine".

You can just pay the fine, however when you go to register the car again you will run into a lot of trouble. Oh, and if you have removed a catalytic converter I think the fine for that is around $50,000.

I knew I'd get pulled over sooner or later, I just hate how they profile, I have an 01 4-Runner, no front plate 5% tint up front and 3% tint on the rest, never been pulled over for it, and I can't count how many times a cop has been right next to me when I have the windows up.

My friend got a smog ticket, told me the fine was $400, I'll see what happens.

My main point of the thread being: warning other modded WRX's in SC to lookout out for the cop bikes, not to whine about a ticket I know I deserved.

I didn't mean to bust on you, I know it sucks to get ticketed. I got a tint ticket in my wife's wagon a couple months ago...then went into stealth mode on my WRX...ripped the tint off, twin tip turboback, not too lowered, debadged.

My FMIC will be that APS dr500 in black for just that reason.

that is correct...you can "JUST" pay the fine. I did.

I also registered the car and got stickers with NO problems.

Oh and that was with all my mods....but I was at the wrong place at the wrong time. I wasnt doing anything, but dropping my GF off at home. He followed me for a 1/2 mile then pulled me over.

Havnt had ANY problems since that 1 time. I have driven next to, and have passed many cops.

^^^ If your talking about San Jose I got pulled over there for a missing screw on my license plate frame. And the cop was traveling in the opposite direction, and it was my back plate. He tried to tow my car from my grandmas drive way cause I told him he couldnt give me a ticket for a loose screw. Oh by the way this was in a 65 Ford Fairlane
