I thought this was pretty interesting, and that someone else might agree. My brother is an American Army soldier, and was with the 3rd infrantry with the first wave of soldiers into Iraq and to Baghdad. Somehow, an Iraqi soldier searched him out through yahoo messanger, and started a random conversation with him. Read.

(side note, to me: americansoldier: I was sitting right next to the palidins outside of karbala calling in targets)

That was about the end of the conversation. It was really wierd, how the Iraqi seemed to be trying to figure out if my brother was responsible for killing his brother. It was also really interesting that the guy seemed to have no idea what happened to Sadam, or how he was captured, despite having access to the internet. Maybe they'll talk again sometime.

So are you calling me a lyer, or saying that the person my brother talked to was fake?

I wondered if it was real too, but from what I have heard, the few existing ISPs in Iraq, for whatever reason, choose to block access to global news websites like CNN, similar to what is done in other countries like China. It's not suprising that given the suppression of media their, most people are clueless as to what's going on.

I don't know if the guy was fake, but if he was, he sure went way the hell out of his way to speak terrible English, and seemed to have very good insight into what happened during the fighting.

Also, from what my brother has told me, almost everyone who shot at him did not have a uniform on... which is why he asked that question. As we know, many Americans were injured by people who appeared to be civilians, but were actually soldiers out of uniform, something my brother saw a lot of. And also, as has been widely discussed, the Iraqi armies were highly irregular, and were known to be not very well outfitted, including the republican guard. How else could the 3rd ID have run over the republican guard in one night? Think carefully.
