Am I being unreasonable in this car situation?

This dude on craigslist has a 99 wagon (im sure you can find it)............basically kelly blue book is less than 4600. the dude had it listed for 5900, and now after not being able to sell it raised the price to 6300. I tried to tell him about kbb and then he said we are selling for kbb.................then of course I mentioned how it was 4600 then he said no can't sell for that............end of conversation..............

I mean the economy is crap, car sales are no good......and he won't sell for a FAIR price?? normally i wouldn't even pay blue book for a used older suby like that as deals can be found.

Im giving up

because I want the car............I thought he wanted to sell it but apparently not...................or he just can't come to terms of what he is selling. Just been trying to get a commuter and have had absolutely horrible luck.

just seems to me there is no way he will sell for that price, I just don't understand why he won't sell it to me, when I have the cash in hand ready to go.

the "value" of any item is not only based on what a buyer wants to pay but also what seller is willing to sell at. the book value of a pen might only be $1 according to officedepot.com, but i might not want to sell it for $1 or i might be willing to pay more than $1 for it regardless of a source's value.

because the economy is crap doesn't mean the seller necessarily needs the money or that they are in a hurry to sell the car. just be reasonable and move on to another seller.

KBB is notoriously low for subaru's in this area.

My 07 wagon is valued at 9.8K, but seriously you won't be able to find one selling private party or on a dealership for under 13K.

Supply and Demand.

He has the product.
You have the want...and he knows it.

If you're having a hard time finding a car, maybe it's you that's being unreasonable.

I've had a hard time finding one because I've honestly tried to go check out like 7 that were winners, and they all have sold before I could get there. I guess I was hoping for some more productive posts here but whatever. For example alchemy motors sold his 02 wagon, a lot newer of a car for over a grand cheaper than this guy is asking. I'm pretty sure he is unreasonable, not me. And I'm pretty sure KBB is notriously high for subarus not low.

i dunno, never seen an older impreza with that high of mileage go for 5K+ .......... I bought my last one for 3 grand, and have seen plenty of others for sale too, just haven't gotten to any of the good ones in time. I mean kbb is a pretty good measurement for me, of course some cars are worth more than listed.................but not a used subaru wagon. I know you can sit here and argue with me all day, im just trying to be real about the situation.

we are too, trying to help you out by being realistic. but your thread title probably already pushed us in a direction of a "yes" answer before we opened the thread.
