am I being scammed?

bought a wrx steering wheel ( at least paid for) on nasioc from a member named Samurai_Jim, sent paypal over a month ago. I looked up this guys posts before sending payment and he seemed legit, after payment was made I hadn't heard anything back.

Finally I pm him over a week later and he says his wife is having pregnancy issues, I take him at his word and back off. dont hear anything back for another week. Ask him again, he says he tried to send to wheel and my address was "not deliverable" or something, but when i asked to see the tracking # for proof he ignores it and says he'll try again that day. Next week I ask again and he says his wife is having crazy pregnancy issues so he hadnt shipped yet.

I dont want to be an ***, I have to give him the benefit of the doubt so I just say that I understand he has family issue right now and cant deal with this, so he should just send a refund and deal with this at a later time. Ignored since I asked for a refund.

Its been over a month, cant tell if I'm being scammed or this guy is really having a hard time right now; either way I dont think expecting him to go online and refund my payment is too much trouble.

so what would you do?

Maybe just ask him to refund the payment until he is able to send the wheel? There should be an option to refund a transaction, rather than him just sending you the equal amount (since that'll charge you the fees when you receive the money).

thats exactly what I asked for, it takes 2 seconds on paypal to make a refund, no one is charged any transaction fees. appologies of the lack of clarity.

haha, yeah I'd probably take it too.

you being a Mod could probably shed some light into weather mods can prompt resolution in these types of matters. can a Mod contact the guy and threaten to ban them for not refunding or holding up their end of a transaction? would you as a mod get involved if someone asked you to? I assume nasioc is fairly similar in practice.

there was a huge thread in the south east section similar to this. the guy had been sold an item.. it arrived to him not as described.. he tried to get ahold of the seller but he didnt return his PMs or anything blah blah blah.

leonardo (one of the mods) then stepped in & made an attempt to contact the guy by phone, PM, etc, & he put a "scammer" label under the guys user name to warn others.

If you have actually asked for a refund, let him know that if you don't get a refund you'll have Paypal get you your money back.

Report a dispute with Paypal.

There is a time limit of 45 days after the transaction after that you are SOL.

its sad but you really have to watch your back these days I am hearing about so many scams going on. and these scams are happening even on 40 dollar sales. There was one like that here not to long ago. Have to pretty much buy in person so there is a direct exchange. Even at that watch out..
