Altamont AutoX

I made this in PS. Who would want to do this? Who knows someone who can make it happen? The guys at altamont were interested in the spec miata race when they held it there, and they also have many drift days. So having a little runoff room next to the walls isnt that important.

I cant wait!

yeah, the spec miatas only paid $20 entry fee, normally its in the 100's (laguna seca is like $400) so i think since Altamont does so much oval racing, it brings in enough money. So if they have an open day they cant schedule, theyd give it to us at a cheap price. so maybe $30.

Not sure how much the drift days are but they look pretty boring. Did you watch the video? LOL!

lol yeah, i was like wtf the 3 different times he shouldve realized he wasnt gonna make it!
But some might say that the autocross i drew out is too close to the walls, but this guy makes it seem like its not a problem. I dont know though, they might be even more strict since that happened, we'll see.

SCCA is currently talking with the dude. He offered us (SCCA) some exclusive usage on a new paddock lot he wants to build. We are working on details, and getting our contract laywers to help us write up the clauses.

It's not worth it to autox the infield course because the walls are simply way too close, and I know for sure I'd be going faster than those drifers around those turns...

God that video makes my head hurt.

yeah i was thinking more of a private club but i guess anything would be cool.

About the whole paddock thing, there is really no point because its flat, open, and like anywhere else. It will be super smooth though.

Im just trying to escape the flatness of autocrosses. I dont know who designed that road course but i wouldve made something a lot cooler for them to pave over. The esses hardly have a line to them (you can straight line thru if you wanted to) and the angles as you crossover the mini oval are pretty steep.

They needed some banking on the road course, and a few more optional strights to make more combos for track layout (note that there are many dangerous points on my layout that could possibly cause an accident) But i made the best of what they had.

They really need to make something in the back of the pits, its basically a HUGE triangular bowl in the field that could seriously fit the infield in that area. But the money they have for the paddock wont go anywhere else

Yeah well 4 fun runs usually make up for my $30 autocrosses. Twice the fun for $4
by the way its sounding, i would pay $50 or $60 for the infield, and for the paddock, i dont know if i would even go.

They need to make the paddock all flat, but on the perimeter have some humps (like 50 feet long, 8 feet high INTO a banked 90' at the corner of the lot. Then maybe a flat 20deg bank (30 feet long, 8 feet tall) thats super long that you could place cones on wherever you want. Like the old drive in movie theater parking lots, have some cool features. Thats basically what i mean.

Just little things like that can make everything that much more challenging.

i dunno, autox is fun and all, but i much prefer a real road course.
