Allow myself to introduce... myself

Hi all,
I felt like posting a thread since this is such a tightknit group and I felt like introducing myself (haha and +1 for me). I've been trolling the boards for quite a while gathering info and such while going to college down south and working so one day I can procure a beloved subaru. I rarely post because I don't yet own a subaru, but like I said I read up a lot. That being said, I think I have the funds necessary for a car and am looking for some help. I'm looking specifically for a used (preferably private owned) 2002 MBP 2.5rs (sedan no ts) 4eat. This is what I can afford, what I like, and what I think suits me best (flame suit on). If you guys could keep an eye out for something of the sort or if you have any leads could you let me know? I go to school in the claremont area but my home is in the bay area so I'm interested in cars in either vicinity. Hopefully things work out and I can start coming to meets soon. Thanks a bunch. - Patrick

Patrick,

Just curious - what made you decide against a WRX or a 99-00 RS with EJ20 swap? Both can be had for a decent price, that isn't too high?

One of the main reasons also is insurance purposes. I'm 19 years old, no tickets, and one accident about a year and a half ago (50% my fault determined which i still don't buy but I won't get tangential). A wrx is classified as a sports sedan at least by my insurance company, giving me a huge premium. I need 4 dours as well, thus most of the older imprezas are out. I also love the bugeye styling, wasn't a huge fan to begin with but now I am ( plus much more aftermarket in terms of appearance and such). Seems the newer imprezas are also larger which is a plus for me. As for cost, a wrx is a bit out of my price range especially an auto. I've got I'd say 13k to spend roughly which is about right for a 2002 2.5rs, correct me if I'm wrong. I'm hoping it'll be cheaper than that though so I have some cash to play around with. Maybe in the very far future I can do an sti shortblock/ wrx head swap with the 4eat and a wrx ecu.

Watch out for Zoeb and Andre. Never say "cheers". And anyone below 1500 doesn't mean what they post, they're just post whoring.

welcome
