We just had an idea,
what if, we get SCC or another mag bring a driver out.
if we do the event in nor cal, we can have the cars dyno'd before the event ( I will put up the dyno time on my dyno ) and have them drive/ critique the cars?
just a thought,
lets hear the input,
OR....
do we want to do this as a fun thing and just do it for bragging rights?
I guess it depends on what everyone else wants, drivers or cars competing? ( sorry to be re-asking Noah's Q )

If it's truly to see who has the best setup/mods/etc...then I guess a pro driver should be driving the cars (who knows better then them).
I think this is more for bragging rights, besides that's what 99.9% of everybody wants to see. Even if we made the playing field 100% even (which is pretty much impossible, unless we're talking big budgets) people are still going to bitc* and moan.
Owner needs to drive there own car if you ask me!!!
KEEP IT FUN...

S-Squared, thanks for getting this thread started.
Well there are a lot of good options out there.
We are all for supporting more subarus than other cars. So, an all Subaru shoot-out, namely our own event, would be best. This way everyone can get mileage out of it
As for classes and limits: That's going to be tough. Some of us have more money than others and/or know more people/contacts than others.
If this is going to be a "tuner shootout" then who/what qualifies as a "tuner"?
If this is going to be a "shop shoot-out" then who are the shops?
If this is going to be a Subaru shoot-out, then do we want to invite other Subaru affiliated people or keep it BAIC?
Are we going to compare how cars or drivers?
If we are going to compare cars/shops/tuners by what they offer/sell/tune or how deep their pockets can go?
Honestly most of the vendors all sell something different. So how are we going to say which one is better?
Just my thoughts.
Chris

you have very good points, I guess this is the point where we need to define what the shootout is and who should participate.
As far as "tuners" go, it is a hard thing to define, while our shop , i-speed , vishnu etc do engine/ecu tuning, another shop may consider themselves suspension tuners, etc. I think what we need to do is define as a group what should be considered a "tuning" shop.
I think if we are going to do a shootout, we should have just shops, if we are going to do another suby only trackday we could always hold the "tuner" section and then let anyone else who wants to run go, although the more people that want to run ( if we do this as a timed event ) the longer that section will take and the less track time it leaves for the participants of the track day itself.
thoughts from anyone else?
