What setup were you running when you got tagged?
I had a catless exhaust, heat wrapped uppipe, cold air intake, turbo inlet hose, tgv deletes and manual boost controller. I dont have the time/tools to return it to stock myself and paying a shop would cost more than the ticket. And I didnt want to risk or hassle with leaving the turbo inlet on and have the ref say its not cool. I know some people have had success but some stations are very strict. Plus my setup is running very, very strong, with brand new exhaust gaskets for the up, exhast manifold and tbe. I want to keep it as is.

Now, if I only had an exhaust or intake, then its not too bad to go back to stock to have the ref smog it. The more mods you have, the more hassle it is.

wow, considering you had so much done, thats actually not THAT bad of a fine (relatively speaking) to just "leave it as is" and pay.

Yeah, as much as I hate paying the money to the state, it was my cheapest option. Its also very hypocritical and borderline extortion! They are supposed to care so much about the ****ing environment with all the emissions laws but then they go ahead and say "We caught you breaking the law but just pay us a few hundred bucks and we'll let it slide"

well for those who said you want be pulled over for stock CBE you are wrong.

I have twice been pulled over for exhaust and been asked to pop my hood both times even though i was not speeding or anything major, one was only for exhaust and one was for no front plate.

lesson is you can be pulled over for anything even if you are 100% stock the main reason is what all we drive.....

Yep, I was pulled over for driving the speed limit on 680 in Pleasanton. Cop said my car looked like a car used for street racing. Since then I have removed the big wing and put on a small wing. Hopefully this keeps the fuzz of my back.

Yeah I'm pretty much over the dp now (well atleast until I'm not broke and out of college). I can't afford getting pulled over and going through all these hoops until Big Brother gets his money while wasting my time.

Haha, I'm not trying to scare or discourage anyone from putting an exhaust on their car. The extra power, the sound.... its definitely worth the risk (imo) GL

WTF man. I had to drive 5 whole minutes to deliver that thing to your work! That's like, a dollar in gas! You better put it on!

hahaha I know I know... I will let it sit in the garage for a week or two and one day I will be doing nothing and most likely install it out of boredom. Then I'll come back here a month later posting my whole story about my run in with the law and how I'm going to court and paying hundreds in fines. I'm going to have to learn the hard way knowing myself.

edit: btw nice looking car you got there
