To All Catless Downpipe/TBE Owners

UPDATED With Poll... just seeing what the majority of you bay areans have.

How many of you out there are running completely catless (or catless at least in your TBE)?

What is/was your setup and have you ever been popped and ticketed by any leo's?

I'm tempted to install my Helix catless DP but don't want my flashy SRS melon shooter to get me pulled over... not to mention I'm tinted. Hefty fine and state ref trip just waiting to happen...

100% right. You will be taking a big chance. If i was you i would see it and use that money on the suspension since they parts are just as fun and don't get you tickets by themselves.

The police are not attracted by your DP status...what peaks their interest is your catback status...cops are attracted by shiney things and noise.

You can run fully catless, but if you have a stock catback you will not be pulled over....but you can keep all 3 cats and a loud catback will get you a ticket..

Best bet is to get a hi-flow cat and a stock catback you'll leave 10whp on the table but the popo won't care about you.

Yeah, didn't you just deal with that? How much did you end up paying?

So lets say my stock 02 wrx CBE and Catless Helix DP (since that is what I have laying in the garage). What rights do we have as far as them wanting to look under the hood?

So why did you end up taking off the dp?

I was running a titek 3" catless dp, and a borla hush exhaust, and I never got pulled over. I ran that setup for about 2 years and I never had a problem.

What CBE do you have?
If you are running catless with a stock CBE the cops will never want to look under your hood.

Your car will be quiet and will not attract attention.

I will never understand why the top 3 mods on a suby are:

1. remove front plate - no performance gain, attracts police
2. loud CBE - no performance gain, attracts police
3. Dark tint on front windows - no performance gain, attracts police

Always confuses me.

as far as looking under the hood most of them are retarded... the guy that looked under mine just pointed out my BOV and said something stupid about it. with a dp they wont say anything b/c it's hiden alittle bit and the heat shield covers most of it..

Ok so realistically it looks like to reduce the chances of being pulled over for altered emissions/loud exhaust specifically, I would need a stealth cbe.

So with that being said...glenspen I agree with you (top 3 mods on any car)... those mods are fine if you aren't going for performance, but otherwise no point in them if you are as they only draw attention.

My front windows are slighty darker than stock, so nothing huge there, I have my front plate, and if I went with...

MY 02 WRX CBE and Helix Catless DP... I'm assuming that would be the safest bet with what I have currently in the garage.
