got stopped on 10th street exit on the way to sjsu by SJPD, two bikers. said my
exhaust was illegal and got a state ref ticket for it. i explained that the governor himself shut down state ref stations, the 1st cop said it wasn't true, and i gotta go to another station like one in Sacramento, wtf?. the 2nd cop pointed at my ac hot line [the green cap with an H on it] and said, "im pretty sure thats illegal".
yeah dude, air conditioning is illegal on cars now

 

 

God damn, how often do you get hassled? Didn't you just get ref'd last week too?

 

i got a state ref ticket bout a month ago, and then this one last week. the cop said "your not supposed to be driving" i said "well, i need to get to school and home, and since theres no state ref's, i just made an appointment to see the judge soon" and he didnt tow my car. both times it was because my exhaust was too loud. thats why i want a new exhaust

alot of times if you dont drive like an *** (not saying u drive like one) they wont deal with u much...

but if your car is screaming loud... then i guess it kinda of asking for it

Im interested in this whole BAR ordeal.
I just got ref'd today on the way out to Formula D at infineon raceway.
I wasn't doing anything wrong at all (besides driving a highly modified car). The cop coming from a northbound freeway ramp that connects to the highway I was exiting to head southbound on the freeway he just exited northwize... decides insead of hopping on the highway I was parting, he'd lead me into my ref ticket. The cop started going south(as I was going) then turned his lights on and swerved into a construction zone, allowing me to pass. He then roars out 5 cars later and hits the diamound lane... catching up to me and lighting me up like a mo freeegin stoggie! pulled over.. He said he pulled me for No front L/P and illegal exhaust. He popped my hood, Took pictures... and wrote me for the following.

27150(a) Inadequate Muffler
27156(b) Altered Smog- Ref Signoff
5202-VC Front License plate required
*Advised Per 24004 VC* - meaning I'm not supposed to be on the road the sube


*State Referee Certification required- no officer sign-off
(section 43012 California Health & Safety Code.) For state referee appointments : 1-800-622-7733. Vehicle must be removed from the roadway immediately and may not be driven until in compliance. (Section 24004 California Vehicle Code)

So now... I'm mapping out what to do.
But if the smog-refs are closed then.... is this my lucky day?

 

Remove the must go to ref sticker and have a cop sign off the ticket. Haha jk.

 

well i went to court this past wed. and all the judge did was say the ticket is a must sign off from state ref or pay the full fine. and then said since i got everything fix he is going to extend it till dec 10th and hopefully state ref will be back up because i am not trying to pay 600 dollars each for 2 state ref tickets. yes jesse im in the same boat as you!!

 

Jon, my advice.. sell the car.
