Anybody here wanna help me do this? I don't really feel comfortable messing with somebody else's car not knowing exactly what I'm doing. I have no problem screwing around with my car, but someone else...not so much. I can pay with food, booze, bud, or cash.

Naw it's easy until you get to them f'n rods. There are methods which make that part easier. I would advise you wear some heavy gloves and do a search on "Torsion bars".
It took us about an hour.
Good luck.

I'd ask for the one that guy you are trading with as part of the trade. Seems fair.
But on a legal note.....you guys don't read the dmv laws regularly do you?
It is state law to have 2...TWO Functioning tail lights. It is a federal sanction that the 3rd light has to come on all cars but it is not the law that it HAS to be functioning.
You will not get a fix it ticket for not having it as it's very unlikely anyone will notice. Just make sure BOTH your regular tail light/brake lights are functioning all the time. If one of those goes you will get a fix it ticket.
So...in short...I wouldn't stress if you don't get one. Just maintain the other 2. But I would try to get the one from the guy you're trading with as he won't need it and you might as well have one.

Heh. I've swapped lids and have had no 3rd light for... a long time. I've been stopped a few times and never once have they mention me not having a 3rd brake light.
