Aaaahhhh! What's that sound coming from my car?!

I start up my car this afternoon and I get this audible whirring sound coming from below the glove compartment. WTF?! I pop the hood, no sound. Strange. Check again, yep, definitely coming from under or just behind the glove compartment. Sounds almost like a baseball card stuck in a miniature bicycle wheel. Wait a sec... I turn off my fan. Yup, it stops.

So, either my interior fan is out of whack or something fell into the blade. Anyone know how to get to it and check? I'd hate to take my WRX into the dealership just to pull a leaf out of there.

Trying to remember exactly, but....

I believe you pull off the glovebox (few screws) and you can get to the HVAC fan. It is the compartment that you throw that HEPA filter into if you buy it. Anyways, I'll bet you can get enough fan access from there to remove the leaf or whatever is in there.

Hey, it could be worse......in the Impala SS world (see my username) one guy had a noise like that and a "smell".....pulled the fan motor and found a DEAD MOUSE in there

With all the stuff you've been throwing into your car, something was bound to happen. Glad to hear ya fixed it.
