could the truck driver have filled the wrong tank at that station? or could the OP have selected the wrong grade? i've done that once before

Stay away from VP... As its caustic (spelling) It will damage everything it comes into contact with longer then 24 hrs. I've seen fuel pumps, fuel lines and what not turn to a ball of melted rubber.
At the race track in motorcycles we dump the tank right after using it and flush the system with 91. But avoid using it as much as we can.

I've run VP100 UL in my car 24/7 for over a year with no issues.

Thats it.. I always forget that exit... The sell a few differant brands and octanes. I think they have 115 low lead right from the pump.
But they also sell 100 and 109 unleaded from the pump too.
