but i betcha don't think taking a **** on an f430 sucks.
You're missing the point. I'm not saying that it isn't fast. It is fast. But, as a sports car it plain missed the target of real enthusiasts. It's fast around the track sure but, only once. I guarantee that a Z06 can do multiple laps before anything starts to go away. 4000 lbs is still 4000 lbs. And it needs more of everything because of it. It needs big brakes and all the power just to get out of it's own way. If anyone actually does take one to the track, instead of using it as a big swinging you know what, they will see that it's shine will be gone in a lap or two. The tires will overheat and the brakes will go away. But, hey, at least you can still go fast in a straight line.

A real performance car should be as light as possible. Light weight saves tires, brakes, shocks, and pretty much everything on the car. As a boulevard cruiser, it's a great car. As a performance car though, they missed the mark.

I agree a car should be light, but nissan seems to defy physics. I kinda doubt it on the braking the ring is a pretty braking intensive track and very long so..........doesn't seem to have a problem with the tires of the 14 mile long track either. I think those are good theories based on simple physics but not reality in this case.

It is not a cruiser, it will smoke a f430 and the z06 man, the topgear track too! It lapped 3+ seconds faster and is only a 1:20 laps!
you are highly mistaken about it being a cruiser.

ends justify the means.

also wanted to add its more like 3800, and so is that fat evo

My buddy got to drive one for an hour, he said; "my adrenaline was pumping for an hour and a half after I got out"

Add a 200 lb driver and you have 2 tons. My car weighs in at about 3065. With me in it is about 3300 lbs. That is still too heavy. And yes, the GTR does seem to defy physics. More on that in a minute.

That car is probably make more than the 480 Nissan is claiming. My guess, for a car of that weight, it probably makes in the neighborhood of 520-550 at the crank. The ¼ mile times seem to back this up as reaching a speed of 120 mpg requires about 530 hp to get a 2 ton car to move that fast in that amount of time. Is this extra power a bad thing? No, but, Nissan is going a long long way to make people believe that this is the end all of cars.

As for the Ring, The ZR1 did it in 7:28 with 638 hp and the viper ACR did it in 7:22 with 600 hp and a bunch of missed shifts. (I need to find that video to link.) The GTR did it in 7:29? With only 480 hp? Not likely. That was with some pretty sticky rubber too. Instead of comparing these cars as is, a real test would be to put them all on the same tires and send them out. Then we will see who is really the fastest.

Sorry if I'm pissing on everyone's love for the GTR but, I just don't see how and over weight, electronically enhanced over powered luxo-barge is supposed to be a performance car. Take all of the electric add-ons away and see how that thing really drives.

That last part is purely my opinion

And get SMOKED in doing so

If I had enough to supercharge it I'd agree, or just a lot of money. The v10 r8 is probably pretty cool with the awd. Still I'm pretty sure i'd just get a skylineeeeeee for 69, r8 is a rip

after i saw that gtm 500 post, i want it over all cars.

billjc has a great point. his point is its fact gtr is super fast but not as fast as it could be for its weight, nor is it efficiently fast.. i think.. and i agree.

Hmm, well Kevin already bought a car and he saw an ad like this one and went to the dealership to find it was already sold and they kept the ad up to lure in the customers looking for one...
