some guy at work is claiming that he has a 350hp ford focus that came with 250 from the dealer. he claims it has a 2.3L engine with a factory turbo set up. I am having a hard time beleiving this but can someone tell me if ford sells focus rs in the u.s. I thought they didn't

I'm pretty sure they didn't have a focus rs in the US. They had it in Europe. The highest trim Focus here in the states is the SVT which only had 170HP N/A

the Roush focus has a turbo kit. you know Roush and Saleen? same kinda deal. now that saleen did a focus roush did one too. i saw somewhere a Roush turbo kit for the focus so maybes thats wht hes talking about? ask him if its a Roush

You are correct, the RS never came here. Even if it did, it only makes 220hp. It is the RS COSWORTH that makes 300+.

There is no true "factory" turbo kit here in the states. The most powerful motor here is the 2.0L SVT motor with 170hp. The 2.3L makes something like 140-145hp BUT it does make more torque at a lower rpm than the SVT motor and has been found to be easier to launch than the SVT and usually nets a faster 0-60 time. Regardless, there is no factory 250hp Focus motor ANYWHERE. It goes like this. Base 2.0L Motor: 110hp; Zetec 2.0L motor: 130hp; Saleen/SVT/Cosworth 2.0L Motor(found in our SVT Foci): 170hp; 2.3L Mazda Motor (forget the actual name): 143hp; RS Zetec 2.0L Turbo: 220hp; Concept Cosworth RS 2.0L Turbo: 300+hp. The Zetec motor was known for having bad breathing problems and therefore never really made much power with forced induction. The Saleen/SVT/Cosworth motor (in our SVT Foci) improved on these breathing problems with a new dual stage intake plenum and tubular 4-2-1 header, but was still never able to put down large HP numbers due to a fairly week block and open deck (hence only 220hp in the RS). The Cosworth RS is a one off motor, basically the same design as the Cosworth Escort and Sierra, and if your coworker or whatever has one of those I need to grab my knee pads, cause I'll gladly serve him up.

130hp x 1.60 = 208hp not 250 or anywhere near 350. Plus that kit is for the 2.0L Zetec; they have no kit for the 2.3L Mazda motor.
