Question 30k service for my WRX... Any ballpark figures?

I know I can just call around tomorrow and see, but it's 11:50pm right now, and I'm on the internets. ...oh, and for i-club forum posterity.

I searched the forums and I've seen anywhere from $180 to $800. So, anyone want to give me the straight dope?

I'm even willing to drive FAR (up to 500 miles), to avoid ripoff Bay Area prices. But everyone seems to think the world of the Redwood City Subaru dealer and their service department. (well, most everyone). If the rural/urban prices are not so different, I'll go there.

Also, what kind of buffer do they give you to get the 30k service done? I've been racking up the highway miles (1,600 in the last two weeks) and didn't notice I've already flown past 30k.

Cheers

Get an emailed list of what the dealer does, then bring it to one of the popular bay area vendors and see what they charge for labor if you supply the parts/fluids.

It would be helpful to post where you got yours done instead of posting just a price.

Take it from someone whos worked in a dealership service department. Unless its under warranty, NEVER TAKE YOUR CAR TO A DEALERSHIP FOR WORK!

Get a hold of the guys at LIC Motorsports in Novato for the best prices and service

I suppose if there was a non-dealer here in the bay that could do it, and came with HIGH recommendations from you guys on the forums, I'd entertain the idea.

And I know this is one of the most overasked questions, but here it is: it won't void my warranty if I get service (oil changes, 30k service, etc.) elsewhere, right?

Ok, ok, there it is.

ballpark: 275-350.
FineLineImports is the cheapest complete tune-up I know of ($275 ... I think).... but, I haven't compared that many of the local shops.

I just had my 26K oil change(SSC free oil change) and the next one is @ 30K.
I will be taking my car to LIC because I need some other stuff too (different brakes and oil, ....)
and they have video games, and Wi-Fi. The trip to Novato will be worth it to me.

oops. i took it to a place called Aerosim Research, but it's in Costa Mesa in socal.

My opinion is just like most everyone else's here as well: find a shop specializing in subarus such as the many local vendors we have here, then Ask them for a quote. It will usually be within very good reason.
