Actually two days 3 cracks, but I've now had my 06 for 3 weeks and I've managed to get the windshield hit really hard three times by rocks.
First time, I was traveling behind my Dad's 914 quite a distance back, and I got popped real hard. I looked around and spotted a chip in the windshield. Well that was understandable because the 914 is rolling on road course tires. the next two don't make sense.
Second time, I'm cruising down 80 with no car in front of me in the carpool lane for 1/2 a mile, then out of no where, BOom, and there appears a small chip on the first layer, not too bad, but somewhat noticeable from the drivers view
Third time, I'm coming home tonight on 80 and I was talking to my friend in my car about how I keep getting hit. Well what do you know, 5 minutes later I had the biggest hit yet, and from the looks of it the rock split on impact and there is one chip on top and a bigger chip on the bottom with 6 small cracks spreading from it!
Man this is crazy! Is there something about the design of the front end that doesn't create a good flow over the windshield? This is the 3rd new car I've owned and about the 6th car total, and none of them have been like this. I've only gotten one small chip in the years that I've been driving.

When I got my car, the dealership showed me some video about a diamond coating on the windshield thats supposedly included with all the cars they sell. The car was used so there was no itemized price list to see how much they charged for it, but they said theyd replace it for free if it ever cracked...and it has yet to crack

Earlier this year, I got a few within the span of a week in my 06 WRX. Only two were big enough to require repairs. I got them both from driving south on 880, from Fremont into Milpitas.
I now avoid 880 as much as possible.
I don't think it matters where you drive. It can happen anywhere. Road debris is a part of life. I had a piece of metal bounce up and scratch my hood all up and chipped my scoop. Never saw it coming. Somebody sell me their bugeye cf hood...
I've got a crater at eye level. Sounded like a gunshot when it hit. I'll get it fixed one of these days. Nice thing about it is now when I hear a rock pop my windshield I don't give a siht.
edit: reminds me of the time a lugnut bounced up off a van coming the other direction, and hit me in the colarbone while riding a motorcycle. be glad you have a windshield.

I picked up a rock on the freeway last weekend and it split my windshield about one third of the way down the next day...sigh.
