3 Pirates dead 1 Freed Hostage
Looks like we took charge instead of negotiated when the hostage was in "danger"

Personally, I think they should have done it on Good Friday - when the captain escaped for a moment, I would have had the CIWS trained on that boat and blasted it so hard, there wouldn't have been a piece large enough to pick up with a teaspoon. The pirates couldn't take on the CIWS system, and wouldn't have had time to shoot at the captain - they would have had approximately 300 rounds blasting through the boat (and them)...
4500 rounds per minute - a bit more impressive than the 30 rounds we saw in another video.

id like to give a huge HIGH FIVE and pat to the men and woman that made it all possible!!! you are the worlds best and they do make us damn proud!!!!
but this Richard Phillips guy (Capitan) was warned repeatedly about the dangers of going into those waters and instead of steering clear he went head and entered and ignored the U.S. Navy's warnings. (personally im pissed that he didn't listen to the warnings and because he ignored the warnings we shouldn't have felt an obligation to rescue his butt)
yes we saved his bacon... now we will have to see what is in store for the next U.S. commercial ship that sails thru
im sure this won't be the last time one of our own is held hostage... and with our current U.S. navy fleet #'s, guarding our interests in that area and supressing the pirates, is simply not going to happen.
so i feel there will be a next time and a next time and a next time

They could simply station an LHA off the coast of Somalia, and the problem would be solved. Fire on ANYTHING that remotely looks like a pirate boat coming off the coast, and drop them EVERY TIME they get further than waist deep in the water. CIWS systems to make bait from the bodies, helicopter gunships with rocket launchers to extend the reach of the Navy - a contingent of Marines on board with landing craft in case we need to go inland.

We have a big group of personnel in Djoubouti(?sp?) for this reason.
Bad thing is that we can not just go and sink all their ships without "probable cause"
