2013 wrx rumors

Flappy paddle gear box is the way of the future, Ferrari, Porsche, Lambo, Mitsu, just to name a few. The 2.0 is nothing new, when I lived in Japan every Subaru was equiped with a 2.0, with the STi's having 320 hp. Granted the STi A-Line is only like 280 hp, it is still automatic, and much slower then a manual.
Offering the STi with an automatic transmission open Subaru to people that want an STi but can't drive a manual very well. I drive for a living and there are many of my co-workers that have never driven a manual, and they are deathly afraid of my car just because it is a manual.
If the rumor is that Subaru is making the STi with "ONLY" a automatic trans, then I disagree. Subaru make this trim level in a limited production run "2014 Subaru STi Limited A-Line".

I think it's probably fairly accurate. A HP increase is needed. With the WRX/STI on the platform together and alone it make sense that they both get the 6 speed. If the STI goes auto they can expect to sell VERY few but unfortunately it sounds about right considering the FXT is only in auto now. It's stupid.
The flip side of this is that the WRX will probably increase in price quite a bit and the STI will basically be a package to the WRX instead of its own car. So expect to be paying $32k for a WRX from here on out.
Sucks for folks like me because they've already pushed the price to the edge of what I would be willing to pay. Going higher takes it out of my price range in the future.

In my opinion, this won't happen. Why? Well because that basically means that subaru is out of the 20-30K affordable sport oriented car segment (ie, GTI, Speed3...) which they've milked since the introduction of the WRX. The only way I see this happening is if the next impreza gets an upgraded trim equivalent to the current WRX.

But the 2.0 with 270 horsepower would be very nice..something subaru should have added on their BRZ... imo.

Car Info: 2012 WRB WRX
well with all the options you can push many cars 30k+, thats not the point. ignore dealer markup and options for now, just talk about base price. (we all know there are certain increases such as dealer markup up and necessary options like a short shifter)
That increase on the wrx just doesnt sound right to me... I honestly dont think subaru would push the base price over 30k... And yeah, they will sell much fewer STI than they are now unless the paddle shifters are only an option, Unless they have some secret info about tapping into a new "market".
Just remember they are a business and their goal will always be to sell as many cars as they can for the most profit. I honestly dont think they want to **** off most of their fan base.

305 hp in the sti? No thanks. Basically unchanged in power while the current wrx already surpasses the sti in a straight line. I was looking forward to a hp bump in the sti. Gonna be sad that an sti that's close to $40k can barely even beat cars that are in the $25k range.

Look at the price of Outback's right now. Outrageous. Same height as the forester, more length and just a little more interior style and they are going for $31,000. I remember they used to sell for $27,000.
