2002/2003 and possibly 04/05 head replacement pricings?
Ok so, this long road has been frustrating and i could probably type a lot more but imma make it simple..
How much do people pay for a new head replacement?
I have a 2002 wrx sedan and im guessing it might be the same, 02,03,04,05 since their all 2.0 liter, but i dont know.
So anybody thats had a head replaced, that might run the same price as an 02, how much did you pay parts and labor? and where would b cool too.

I moved your post only because you're likely to have the work done by a local shop, otherwise you did post in the correct forum the first time around.
Many of the specialty subie shops can do this sort of work at a reasonable rate compared with dealerships. Most of the Subaru dealerships will charge a standard labor rate but some may give a slight break on the replacement parts.

do you need a NEW head? like it's warped or something?
Or just a rebuild? I had a head rebuilt and the bill was $2k. This was after my cams wiped and i needed some new retainers and springs and buckets, and was at a shop which is no longer open.

You don't really need a new head like Verc said unless you have a warped head or that your cam journals are scorched/damaged...

well it failed the compression (?) test the dealer had done which the warranty company wanted to check. its getting really messed up and unless the warranty ppl find some way that its related to "not the customer", im gunna havta pay, look below for whole story simplified..kinda...
And i cant drive it but i can tow it to different shops. im just kinda getting quotes if stuff doesnt end up happening (explanation below)
Off Topic but kinda important and messed up:
Its weird how this is going down, i bought a 2002 wrx (early oct) that was technically broken already from the dealer without knowing (they obviously erased the codes w/o fix then sold it), and have had it in the dealership for almost more than half the time ive owned it. bunch of misfire codes with 5 or so trips to the dealers (oak tree mazda, which i bought from then capitol suby which are related) turns into valve adj, turns into they find a crack in the head. I dont know if the previous owner (expired username NORSE here on i-club, found his pic of his car in Silver suby galleries) messed it up and drove hard abunch or just maybe its faulty so im not sure who the warranty is gunna side with...(even tho they always lean for themselves not to pay..duh)
Theres a couple ways it can go down. Easiest is if the warranty is gunna cover it and i just pay deductible.
If they deny claim saying its the customers fault, in this case the previous owner cuz theres NO WAY i could have cracked the head in the short time i have driven it, then i can claim a Cash and Car part of the lemon law, so the dealership is forced to fix it and i get to keep the car. Which is technically better for the dealer too, cuz its either that, or they refund everything i paid and they havta fix it anyway to sell it. I still want it, i just want it fixed, pretty simple. Complicated and frustrating. And im getting way too much fuss thrown at me over the fact that ppl keep saying i bought a "piece of junk" etc etc and its just frustrating...but im tryin to stay positive
Oh and thank you for the moving of post. much better idea

Ok so Warranty denied the claim...
But Capitol Suby is going to goodwill a head for me (big thanks!!!!!!) and help me on the pricing. I will wait for what the calculations are on the entire price with the valve adj, head gasket, etc, but right now I am extremly grateful to them!! I dont think theres a smiley that works for me right now lol
Plus i figured they were getting tired of seeing my wrx in the shop everyday for a month+
