good thing I dont worry about what the JDM ***** think is cool

Japanese Impreza freaks probably crave the USDM 2.5 Hawtness.

I welcome this news. Gives more options for when I swap. I'd probably be a hater if I still had my 02 WRX wagon... haha.

The old cliche "There's no replacement for displacement" comes to mind. Variable valve timing and engine management are great things...but when it comes down to it added displacement makes cheap and reliable power. I'm all for a cheaper and faster car as long as that block doesn't get too heavy!

I think I'll be happy with what I have.

And besides..in a few years I can pick up a current STI motor and put it in my wagon> then people will say...oh that poor guy bought an 04 and then they changed the motors on him...poor guy. And I'll poor guy my *** right past them on the outside of turn 3.

Goodbye 00 2.5RS, HELLO 06 WRX!

Look for this ad around December. "FS: 2000 stock STM 2.5RS sedan 42K on the odometer". Hahaha.

Ehhh I dunno. We get .5L displacement, they get good internals. I'd rather have the better bits myself. The USDM STi engine is one of the top things that has kept me out of a USDM STi.

What's wrong with the usdm sti engine?
It has 20 more hp than the jdm. Plus the displacement makes for better cold start emissions thus not needing an uppipe cat.

I'm hoping they give it a super widebody treatment like the new WRC Impreza.

JDM(V8) STI and US STI have the exact same internals, forged crank/rods, semi closed deck, hypereutectic pistons.

So this:

Is just a bunch of BS then? That would be sweet.

I bought my 05 WRX in October of last year, but there aren't a lot of changes from '04-05'. I think if it's a whole new model, then dates would be different.
