1st incident involving subi and stationary object
So the story goes:
The roads were a little slick in Humboldt county and I had a car full of people and a trunk full of fire wood and beverages. On a funny off/onramp a taxi cab cuts across my lane and I swirve to avoid him. Between my lack of suspension mods, wet conditions and maybe 800 extra pounds the back end came loose. I tried to correct but ended up over compensating. The process was repeated two times before I scraped a nice concrete barrier.
Lucky for me it was a scrape, not a full on collision. Everyone is okay and my WRX still runs. I wasn't able to get plates or a cab ID thing and I'm now left with a dilemma. This will be the 3rd time I've had something unfortunate happen to my car where no one is responsible. This is the first time someone was actually in the vehicle. My insurance is already relatively high.
The only body damage appears to have occurred to the front passenger fender, which is pretty mangled, and the front lip/bumper thing. Even the head lights still function properly.
Would the best course of action be to take it to a body shop and have an assessment done or is trying to find replacement parts via classifieds or some other vendor a possibility?

Do both, while asking the body shop for costs, ask them how much just to put one on if you found a bumper in the next month or two in the classifieds. Try checking junkyards for any leftovers for parts.
Take your time, looks like your car can still run, just looks ghetto a bit.

- There were a lot of silver bugeyes so shouldn't be that hard to find a used replacement for cheap. Of course you'll have to cut the front bumper though for the fmic.
- Unless you're claiming insurance, except for cutting to fit the fmic I wouldn't take it to the body shop since it's so easy to remove/install both the fender and bumper. You should just buy the bumper for $150 and the fender for (i dunno how much) off of subarugenuineparts.com or some other online wholeseller of OEM collision parts. Then get it painted. I'm guessing will probably be around $400-$500 to paint both

I really think the best bet is to take a look at some junkyards and hope to come away with painted parts... the only thing that sucks is that most subaru wrecks destroy the front end ><

that same incident sounds all too familiar..
but the good thing was that no one was hurt and you're still here. taxi drivers are douchebags on the road.. sometimes i wonder if only... someone could.. just..
but yeahh i would recommend apex auto body if you do decide to take care of it by yourself.
i wish you luck in whatever you may decide to do.
