i drive a lot, and usually shift under 4k, usually redlining 2nd gettin on freeways, and i get about 20mpg all the time, 22-25 on freeway tanks, got highest of 26 driving to sac from santa cruz
I get about 19mpg from fremont to tahoe. I shift under 4k (for the most part) and cruise around 70-75 (but the last trip, I was cruising around 80 and didn't notice a drop in mpg). I should note I also have a yakima roof rack + fatcat 6 snowboard rack with 3-4 boards each time and 3-4 people in the car with our bags and stuff in the back.

Been bombing up there a lot lately myself too and the best i have gotten was 21.4 mpg. try to stay out of boost(easier said than done) but the air filter and spark plugs should help a little bit.

I get around that (19mpg) driving everyday in the city and commuting to Oakland. I do have a roof rack, but still I always thought I would get better gas mileage. I change gears at about 2500 rpm and drive it just a little spiritedly.

^ shiftinig that low in the rpm's can also hurt your gas milage. I shift at 3,300 rpm in every day driving

I dunno why you are upset about 19, that's pretty decent. I avg 17 or so but I drive more spirited I guess. When I am being really nice I can get 22-24. But I gotta stay outta boost range and just under 75.

I drive a 2.5RS and I still only get about 300 miles per tank with this winter gas. It's a mix of street driving and freeway. I normally travel at 75-80mph and shift at 3k. I only shift at 4-5k if I'm trying to get onto the freeway or some jerk off keeps matching my speed when I want to lane change.
My 04 STi gets about 17 mpg, no matter how I drive.
My 00 2.5RS gets about 25 mpg. The lowest I've seen it is 23 mpg. It could be because I'm stupid and I double clutch/heel-toe when I am taking a turn on regular streets, just so I can be in a lower gear just in case I have to speed up.

That's not bad at all man, going up HWY 50 or 80 can kill gas in any car. I drive from my house in San Mateo to my house in Tahoe 220mi and have 1/4 take of gas left, drive to Searra and back the next day puts me at like 250 miles and I fiill up with about 13 gall of gas. That's 19.2 mpg so I think your fine.
Mods I have done are
built 2.5 swap gt3076 w/ 850cc and about every bult on you can have

You still get 19 mpg with your setup? That's not bad!
