i used to have a corolla gts non-hatchback. i did not like that car at all... the engine is great though.

yeah... i've seen the 'stretch' style tires. doesnt make any sense at all to me.

the last time i went up that road, i was in my 86 NA mr2... the guy in front of me was in a bugeye wrx. he really didnt like me or how he couldnt pull away.

but, that is a great road.

Same could be said about wrx owners. How many of you track your cars? I bet all the domestic drivers think we're a bunch of ricers.

I own the red coupe and I daily drive my STi. Guess which one is more fun to drive on the weekends?

You're right about that one. There's absolutely no pull between 50% throttle and WOT on the 86. The fun is trying to maintain speed, using momentum, and driving it at the limit. You try to do that on a public mountain road with an STI, you either got to be very crazy or very stupid.

"yes"

i own both an 86 and "sti". both of them are a blast and will teach you completely different things about your driving. my 86 makes it out to more track days then the subie does. mainly cause its more of a challenge and the tires/gas are much cheaper.

i agree 100%. the 86 was a lot more fun and challenging to drive than my old wrx or even LGT. if i had the time/$ i would def. own one for ****s/giggles.

wow... with that sort of reaction, i can guess 2 things that would help solve that little issue... take off the restrictive stock intake and the evil cat. i put on a cone style intake and a test pipe for the exhaust (with stock muffler). did that to my 86 NA Mr2 and the thing came to life. by far one of the most throttle responsive cars i've ever driven... and you could certainly feel the pull all the way up to 7500rpm.

trust me, there is something wonderful about a mid-engine car with no power steering... you just cant replace it.

we must talk mr2 now!

I used to have an intake on the car, but the gains were minimal and it just gives the cops another reason to send you to the state ref for.

The car has no power accessories, a header back exhaust, and a gutted cat. It is still pretty responsive, but no stock 4age in a corolla has ever felt as responsive as the aw11. I used to have one of those as well and that thing pulled pretty hard. It might be because of drivetrain losses or maybe because the motor I have in the corolla has over 230k miles.
