100 unleaded/110 leaded octane gas
i read on an old thread here or on nasioc that the stock ECU can make the ignition timing more aggressive (ie make more power) to optimize for up to 96 octane
when i use 100 octane at the track for deto protection it seems like part throttle and mid range are stronger but i don't have any dyno # or slips to prove it
also, if i just start using 91 immediately after 100 i will get deto, so there was definitely timing advanced. i recommend resetting the ECU after going back to 91
my car is 100% stock btw

My understanding is yes, but only if you have a JDM ECU. I may be wrong
Seriously, screw 100 octane. If you figure an addition 2.50 a gallon over 91, now I go through 12 gallons a week which is 30 bucks x 50 weeks....
Alcohol/water injection will pay for itself in just 6 months and you're still free to drive around. When I was on a 96 octane tune I'd always carry Torco in the trunk in case I had to roam away from where 100 was sold.
None of this rebuttal about "alky will blow up my engine". Well,
1. that pump is just as likely to fail as your fuel pump - which is not often
2. Whether you got 100 or do alky, if you're modding your car like that you should have the funds for a new motor anyways
3. It's more of the convenience factor of being able to fill up w/ 91 rather than drive to the 100 octane pump, and being able to drive cross country with just a few gallons of Safeway DI water onboard.
Besides, which normal driving I know of people who only fill up their WI tank once a month. DI water is what... pretty much free?

jdm ecu will advance timing ALOT with proper gas.
Its only illegal tosell at the pump if you are pumping leaded gas into a vehicle, container is perfectly legal.

I wonder if there are California specific USDM ECUs which are different. I know for my MR2 SC there are USDM 49 state ECUs and there is a specific CA USDM version which is the only one that supports the EGT for emissions.
I'm curious how the USDM ECU compensates for the 96 and 93 octanes available in the east coast & mid-west. Seems strange that the JDM ECU is the only one that compensates, which is expected, since they run 101-103 octane in Japan.

Like my comment with the JDM ECU that turned out to be right, I'm not sure about this, but I doubt there's a 49 state version of the WRX. I would have heard of this by now, and there'd be mention of it with respect to tuning.
If you lift your hood and check the emissions badge, should be able to tell if there is indeed a CARB version of the WRX....
Also, I think the 101-103 octane in Japan is Motor octane. Actually is 96 RON+MON/2

it's still more expensive than 91 but worth a mix for those who are interested
I don't want to turn this into a flame war of 100 octane vs alternative additives or fuel options, please don't misconstrue the post.

NO WAY! Twincharged aw11 is like my dream car - I'd take one of those over a C6 corvette, no joke
I mean, not money wise but if I saw both for sale I'd take the mr2You got specs and pics/info? Still got the car?

Check out this site has alot of great info
http://shell.deru.com/~sgn1/AW11/Mkimod.htm
It does not include Gerald San Agustine's original Twincharge AW11 from Toysport which was a beast. This was featured on SCC a while back- mid 90s.
I believe Mike C's twincharge was featured in the first SCC ultimate car shootout.
There are also AW11 1.5s which are 3SGTE (MR2 Turbo 91-95) engines in the AW11 chassis. Deno was the first to have this setup and is the pioneer.

Yeah, I used to have '91T w/ a 3rd gen swap before I got my wrx. I always have a soft spot for the mkI. Surprisingly many mint condition MkI's I see driving around, the owners all love their cars.

Getting rid of this by the end of the year if you guys want to use it as a donor shell.
It's a high comp 4AGZE bottom block with USDM head and intake manny for the CA smog.
