sybir 12-26-2003 12:20 AM

Lol
I ticked over 154k the other day, does that count?
That's crazy miles on a 2002, though :)
I've only put 80k miles on in that time.

psoper 12-26-2003 12:26 AM

some interesting (or not- you decide) breakdown of those numbers:

My commute to work is 1 mile.
I don't drive to work every day, but if I did, that would account for 20 miles per week.

over 134 weeks, that leaves about 97,300 miles for the weekends.

That works out to average 721 miles per weekend.

Something in the neighborhood of $9500 in gas.

sybir 12-26-2003 12:30 AM

That's impressive, Pete :)

psoper 12-26-2003 11:10 AM

impressive? or obsessive? sometimes its a fine line......

sjice 12-26-2003 11:27 AM

O_o ................... good luck on the next 100,000

RacerZ22 12-26-2003 11:35 AM

Are you sure you wrote all the places that you went to?? Maybe you missed Alaska,NY,NJ,Florida,Maine and other eastern states??

J/K I would like to have a lot of free time to drive my car all over the country:D

trebsrex 12-26-2003 03:32 PM

10200 in 7 months for me:D

IS2Scooby 12-26-2003 03:49 PM

Wow! Amazing! You must be a heckuva WRX pilot! :D

It's not possible to get 100k on a car in Hawaii without circling the entire island of Oahu 757 times. (Oahu is only 40 miles long and 26 miles wide) :D

With that being said I hit 20k at 1 year and 5 months...

AVATAR-X 12-26-2003 09:31 PM

Welcome to the club. Your lucky getting to put most of those miles on during the weekend (I'm assuming for fun).

For us, with 103K on the odo, I think 90k+ of it has been commuting - which is not so fun...

Kostamojen 12-26-2003 09:52 PM

About 95,000 on my 02 WRX.
yep still original struts springs and gearbox, now pushing 182,000
Sheet, mon!

I know you've done most of 1,000 of those on rough, unpaved surfaces...

Does it still handle well when cornering on asphalt?

I ask because I just replaced mine (with KYB AGXs) because it was getting to the point of being really scary to drive fast on pavement. Tons of body-roll was making the thing break loose WAY to easily. It was fine on effed-up dirt roads, just not on tight paved corners.

I know I don't abuse mine any worse than you do yours...
Just curious,
M

psoper 03-27-2006 04:21 PM

To be honest I don't drive near the limit on public roads much anymore anyway, but I'm sure it would handle better with either new or replacement stuff, just gotta save up the funds, maybe for a set of these:
http://www.tein.com/hgdamp.html

Yeah, that's some cool lookin' stuff... quite a bit more spendy than I went, though.

I was able to do mine for around $100 per corner. They probably will be easier to break than those Tiens, but on the other hand, I could afford to replace 'em when they do...
160k on Slynki. Gonna try catching up to you, which should be easy at 100 miles/day
You were at 131 4 months before I was at 182, and now that I'm at 212, and you're at 160, i.e. it took you 4 more months to cover 29,000 than it took me to go 30,000 miles- you think you're catching up?

Better keep driving Slynki on weekends....

although with the "bend over and spread 'em" gas pricing back in vogue, I'll probably be cutting back from my usual mega-mile trips, so there is an outside chance you might close the gap a little over the next year.

Roo 02-15-2007 11:57 AM

131 was with Svixen (my beloved SVX). She found a new home, and I now have slynki running me to work...and everywhere on weekends, especially since she only takes regular.

2k/mo. in commuting mileage alone. I don't expect to catch you, just keep a close pace.

haha dont think i will ever reach 100,000 miles. Never own a car long enough for that.

SubyN00by 02-14-2008 06:41 PM

^ same here, and if i do get close, I'll turn the thing into a track car and buy something, and get to 100k about 30 miles at a time per month...

Gibz 02-14-2008 06:46 PM

Nice :) plus we dont drive much lol. I think in a 1.3 years on ballz car there is 5k miles. I have had my car since september and i have 1800 miles lol. It would take me a lifetime to get 100k lol.

when i got rid of my '75 suburban 3.5 years ago it even had only 70k miles on it rofl. Then we had a 99 suburban in mint condition we sold year and half ago with 10k miles and that was bought brand new. So yeah dont think i will ever see 100k lol.

Where is the 20 miles per week coming from? 2 x 5 (work week) is 10. If it's 7 days then it'd be 14.

Extra 6-10 miles randomly?

nkghost 02-14-2008 06:59 PM

Man, I wish I had to drive only 1 mile each way.

50mile commute a day. 250miles a week just to work, factor in another...25miles each week for errands, etc. so 275 a week.

275 x 4weeks is 1,100.
275 x 52weeks (for the year) is ~14,300 PLUS any additional miles I drive.

I bought the car at 59,000miles. I've had it since march 07 and I'm at 76,300 miles.

So... 17,300 miles in 11 months. BAH

Say that gas is about 3.40/gallon at 14 gallons it's like $2475/yr

Commute ftl. =(

04caliwrx 02-14-2008 07:10 PM
^ wow that is just crazy! any big problems, and is your car stock?
Yes my car is pretty much stock, except for the Tien HG coil-overs which are a very recent upgrade.
I'm about done with my 3rd clutch, on my 2nd radiator, 2nd AC system, 2nd steering rack, 2nd or 3rd wheel bearings, 4th windshield, 4th set of front rotors, (2nd in back), probably 10th set of tires...

I burned a valve at 163,000 miles and swapped out for another (still stock spec.) motor, so its my 2nd motor as well.

Still on the original 5speed gearbox too.

I hit 100k last weekend. This is now my 4th subie with over 100k. The 85 wagon had 248k when it was sold and the impreza was up near 140k and the legacy was around 125 I think.
