That is how many of beefs get started.
I think that Ed just gets shafted cause he trys to help idiots that know nothing about cars.
I don't know much compared to Ed or Mike when it comes to tuning, but I do know some basics.
1) When you get your car Professionally tuned, do not go changing a bunch of parts and expect **** to work the same as it did.
2) Know what your goals are, and do the research! look at what other people have done and why.
3) Don't be a tool.

ehh a tuner is a tuner, if your given advice by a tuner check it out and listen, also we are fortunate to have a lot of great tuners here so get a second opinion from another good tuner just to see if everything is gravy. When ed tried tuning my car he found some problems with it but I listened to his advice and tried correcting whatever I could but I was impatient at the time and didn't want to go back to ed and the same problem happen again so I went to Mike to see if the problem would appear again and it somewhat did but we did realize it wasn't boost issue and mike was able to give my car a good tune. But I still respect eds opinion and I would still go to him in a heart beat for a tune because I know how well he can tune cars. To be truthful I would have probably done the same thing to Mike and gone to ed for the second time around if it happened vice versa. Don't just jock one person because he is the only tuner you have been too, and like I said this is the bayarea get a second or third opinion on your car if a tuner notices something and check to see if they notice the problem as well. So if they all say ur car is Fu**ed then uhh you got problems.

Just read the updated full story...sounds like you ended up paying over $1200 plus the cost of a compression test for an accessport and tune, and to cap it all off ended up with a blown engine and heads....
It seems that a complicated set-up, with a swapped Turbo, injectors, FMIC, intake etc needs to be taken to Mike @ GST or your risking your motor.

hmm...I just read your update.....whoa that sucks....I swear bad experiences with a tuner or shop travels fast which sucks because they just opened that new method 4 shop. Makes people second guest there work just like with peoples experience with gruppe-s

20psi on a stock motor, stock turbo with unichip is enough to cause long term damage that could only be seen by stripping down the motor.
This is what gauges are supposed to be used for.
Boost - Am I making too much boost for the current turbo to handle? Keep in mind bigger turbos flow more air by volume at lower pressure levels then smaller turbos at higher pressure. Higher pressure is not always better.
Oil temp - Is the oil getting to hot to where friction modifiers are breaking down and not acting as lubricant?
Oil Pressure - Are you low on oil? Do you have a leak some where?
EGT - Is the motor running too hot? Is it too hot to drive hard?
Wideband o2 - This one is key for tuning otherwise you are really driving blind. This in conjunction with EGTs allow you to monitor if the right fuel to air ratio is being mixed.
I am of the opinion that your engine had problems before getting tuned by Ed.
I've been tuned by Ed for over a year, and on a higher mileage engine even, and my motor still has good compression(recently checked), makes good power, and is at 77K miles. You need to realize that it is not completely Ed's fault. If you had taken the car to Moike and he had an initial problem tuning it and didn't feel comfortable, he would have done the same.
