THEY KILL ****ING PUMAS YO!
I'm sorry, but its this kind of thinking that perpetuates puppy mills. Breed specific rescues are the BEST place to get a dog from. They are in foster homes with people that know how to care for that breed and are monitored to see what kind of personality they have and how they interact. You can almost 100% get a dog that will work for you, a breeder or the spca can't tell you how the dog is going to act.

All of our dogs are rescues...

1. Half pit bull and half whippet

2. American bulldog (one in GilTsube's avatar)

3. 4 week old min-pin

All three are better behaved than most bred dogs.

Dogs you get from breeders have a lot of problems most of the time.
Congrats

But they arent dogo's so everything you have stated does not apply.

Think of a Fila Brasilera or similar dog.. Not exactly the sort of dog you want to pick up from a rescue shelter.

These dogs are large, powerful, feel no pain, and fearless. An awesome combination if properly trained and socialized. Also an amazingly dangerous combination if the dog is mistreated, mistrained, or just plain beaten up in its past. Yeah you can make a difference in a dog over time, even if it has been abused.

But i dont want to be responsible if the dog goes ape **** and kills a family of five out walking their pitbull. (dramatic, yes... but dogos have been known to kill pits)

Like i said these dogs are NOT ****ing poodles. Hence i wouldnt want to rescue one with out knowing its entire history and making DAMN sure there was no mistreatment in the dogs past. But hey if you feel fine rescuing dogos, by all ****ing means do it.

PS stop being a knobgobblin

XOXOXOXOXO's

No this is the type of thinking that keeps people out of ****ing lawsuits and jail time.

Like i said if DOGOS ARE NOT ****ING POODLES!!!

For gods sakes they use the to hunt mother****ing pumas and wild boar in argentina.

But hey if you want to be such a bad *** bleedingheart why dont you ****wits put your money where your mouth is and rescue some Fila's. I mean they are just dogs after all right? And every puppy no matter how hard of life it has had is a kind, loving, and obedient companion right?

Some breeders breed the Fila to have a temperament in which they say is more like the original Fila Brasileiro temperament. One breeder who claims to breed to the original Fila type states, "You cannot socialize a Fila to like people. You can obedience train them so that you are in control, but you cannot socialize them to like people. A Fila WILL attack a stranger. Period. If they have the proper temperament, they WILL. "Ojeriza" translates to "Hatred and loathing of strangers". You do not make them mean and vicious... they ARE... and there is no doubt about it. They are not a dog for a person who has an active social life."

Just because you breed a milder Fila to a milder Fila will not guarantee you a litter of mild-tempered Filas. Some littermates will be mild while others may still retain the harsher temperament. Filas will always be wary of strangers, even the milder Filas will be wary and all Filas will do what it takes to defend what is theirs. There are some Filas in which you can never socialize enough to make them allow a stranger to pet them. Part of it depends on how the dog is raised as a puppy and part of it is in the dog's blood.
So what are you guys waiting for?

Damn ***** *** brits always outlawing the good things in life...

The Dangerous Dogs Act (1991) specifies that three breeds, the Fila Brazileiro, Dogo Argentino and Japanese Tosa, are totally banned.

Yea, I know two people who got their pits from a guy who "breeds" them and they both went crazy and had to be put down... Most pits that are in foster care are old enough that their temper isn't a problem because if it was a problem they won't foster them out. By the way they have some awesome pits on badrap.org....... And people who get their dogs ears cropped are stooopppid... The breed already has a bad name, why would you want to make your dog scare people more than it already will. Help the breed out. By the way I have a pit/shar pei mix and she is awesome and adorable!

Good...I hate when people do that. Has anyone ever been to the pound? Way to freakin sad, almost all the dogs are pit and nobody wants to take them because they have a bad name. I wanted to get one but I couldn't because
#1. I wasn't 21 at the time
#2. The one I wanted was a female and since I have a female pit, they won't place another female pit in my home. (I know, it would have been an alpha-female thing)
#3. My dad has a thing against pits because they have a bad rap. (stupid people)
