Question '05 WRB Wagon - Rota Torque / Winter Tire / Susp??

All right - I've searched for the better part of 2 days now and I think I have most thing down but still a couple questions before I order new wheels/tires. So far - stock '05 wagon, looking at 17x7.5 Torques - for tires (probably Falken Zeix-512's in a 225x45x17). I have no drop now, but will do that after winter so the tire/wheel combo will need to fit those plans. I know that 215's will fit the wagons, but want 225's. The Falkens run 8.8" wide which is one of the skinnier 225 tires. Will this fit my stock suspension until next spring (no track runs, just the ocassional twisty run) with no rubbing. I have no problem rolling the fenders, but would like to wait until I mod the suspension. I don't think I will have the $$ for coilovers and don't want the harsh ride as I have to use this as my daily driver up a bumpy a$$ hwy 101. Looking at dropping it with springs when the time comes... Just wifey and I so no real weight in the back. Also looking at new rear sway bar as the understeer on this is horrible.

So what's the call - think I can swing the 225's? Will I have to roll the fenders?

I'm an old time Jeeper that had my Jeep totaled and finally was able to get the Suby I've been dreamin of - so I know what the same old (will this wheel fit, with this tire thing is like from the Jeep forums) but I'm starting from scratch here...

Thanks again for your patience with a Noob question...

Jason

I know this should go in the Tire section, but wanted to throw it out to the BAIC folks...

Adam over at LIC told me that I could get 225's on my 04 wagon as long as the suspension is stock. Once you drop it you will have to roll the fenders.

The rims and tires will make the handling a lot more predictable, I have 17" yellow subzeros with 215/45/17 Pirelli PZero Nero M+S tires.
Getting a 20mm rear sway bar made a huge difference as well, no where near is much body roll, or understeer.

Enjoy your new ride!

Front fenders rolled?

On 225mm size, on stock you'll be fine. Before you drop it, get the rear fenders rolled.

If you are rubbing on the front on 225mm tires, you car is simply toooooo low!

Cool - thanks for the replys all - That is what I figured, but wanted to make sure either way... Looks like 225's it is (Sweet!)

Time to get some new shoes for the Suby...

As far as rolling the fenders (rear) - anybody have any recommendations in the South Bay (or anywhere in the BA?) Looks like a x-mas bonus will be larger than expected, so the drop may be sooner than later....

Thanks all!!

I thought about a heat gun and something similar, but thought I'd better let this one go to somebody with some experience. If I saw it done I wouldn't worry, but experimenting on the body of a new car makes me cringe a bit... Plus, I have an uncanny knack for screwing that type of s**t up...

Gruppe-S, they have a pretty damn pimp rolling device. If they have a heat gun and are willing, it's capable of doing a pro job.

I have an 04 wagon. With 225's. No rolling. I didn't even roll with a full car load..plus booze in the back and groceries.

My suspension is bone stock.

From what I know and what I can tell...as long as you don't go to low you will be fine. You could even run 235's on something with a 53 offset if you are staying stock height.

I plan to lower my car on the sti pink wagon springs..or with JDM Sti wagon struts and springs. I do not expect to have to roll my fenders. but I might....so I can run 235's. haa.

I have an '03 wagon, prodrive springs and run 225/40/18's... no rubbing - even fully loaded with camping equipment. not sure if the 225/45/17's would make that much difference though.
