I am having problems with my 02 wrx wagon, the boost wants to top out as soon as I give it a little gas, it just started about as week ago, and really is starting to anoy me, if I give it gas on the freeway like in 4th or 5th it will go to full boost but the car will slowly accelerate. I know it isnt the tranny cause it just got a new clutch in from the dealership cause of the clutch chatter but I was wondering on if anyone has a solution to my problem, there is no check engine light on and I only have intake,exhaust,bov,.

 

Vacuum hoses, or the boost solenoid. If it's boosting out of control, nothing is opening the wastegate. Either the air isn't getting there (solenoid broken), or the hoses are fubared.

you can always just borrow someone's solenoid for a quick test spin. takes about 5 minutes to swap (i tried that with my car once when it started doing some weird stuph - i.e. peaking at 1.4 then dropping to .7 on wot)

 

I tried to reset the ecu and when I did and started the car and drove it around like 20 minutes later smoke started to come out of the hood scoop and when I popped the hood it was coming out near the turbo close to the uppipe.

 

that sounds like an oil leak at the turbo, probably worth having someone who really knows there way around there look at it, at least thats what I'd do.

it just smells burnt but the car isnt and never has leaked oil

 

is it sweet? or smells like burning oil. my car had several coolant leaks from the turbo
