*Discussion*Let's Talk Anime, List Your Favorites, Suggestions On Which Ones To Watch
I finished binge watching Shingeki no Kyojin last weekend, and just watched ep01 of SAO last night. I'm considering the Steins;Gate series after, as I'm tempted to buy the Steins;Gate PC game when it releases soon. How are you liking it Choku Dori?

But if you're a person that's tuned in to all the above mentioned aspects, the show is immensely entertaining in multiple ways. Try it out, see if you like it. It's very different than Shingeki..., which has a lot more emotional and humanistic appeal (and great action), and it's different than SAO, which is only truly entertaining if you've played RPG's before and is a bit more simplistic in its presentation of certain subject matter in common with Steins;Gate. Overall, Steins;Gate has a subtlety and subversiveness that can be easily missed, and could lead a viewer to consider it a "boring" show due to a lack of point-blank sensory stimulus.
I don't really watch much anime, but I do read a couple manga. I used to be a dbz fan as a kid so I read bleach as a guilty pleasure. I read/watched the FMA series, which was pretty good.
Other than that I've been reading Berserk for a long time, which is quite the interesting tale, haha. It's unfortunate that Kentaro takes his sweet time with chapter releases, but the attention to detail in the art is well worth it. The plot delivery is excellent. Never rushed, no irrelevant tangents except for a bit of comic relief from Puck, and no inescapable plot holes. There was an anime made a while back, but they just re-did that same story arc in 3 movies over the past couple of years. Note - Berserk is very graphic.

Honestly, Steins;Gate isn't a show for everyone IMHO. It has a lot of very Japanese humor that pokes fun at Japanese internet and otaku/J-pop culture, and some of the jokes are impossible to translate both linguistically and culturally (for example, the famous phrase 「駄目だこいつ・・・早くなんとかしないと・・・」 is used to hilarious AND storyline-propelling effect in one scene, but only a 2channeler would get it -- even someone familiar with the original source material of the phrase wouldn't get the full effect of the joke; another example is the use of a classical Japanese literary motif by one character to describe another character that would probably go over the average non-Japanese person's head but results in uproarious hilarity amongst average Japanese folks). Of course, to be fair, there are a good number of American pop culture-based jokes on the show that a good number of Japanese people might not get either. Also, it helps to have an educational background in science, especially classical and quantum physics, electrical engineering, computer science, neuroscience, and sociology -- otherwise some major parts of the show won't make much sense or may seem overtly implausible due to a lack of understanding of certain subjects.

Steins... Needed to watch some parts several times and did internet search to understand the background/key words. The quality of 「紅莉栖」figure is so so. Does not look like the 2D original. 「まゆしぃ」 ねんどろいどis good.

Kurisu's figures were based off of her appearance in the light novel and game and not the anime, so the depiction is actually pretty faithful in that respect.
Of course, I haven't seen any of her figures in person, so my opinion is based solely on photos.

Appreciate the write-up of your take on Steins;Gate. I'll put it on my embarrassingly long list of series to watch.
