Oh, the ads...
If you have any form of ad blocker or script blocker, the videos can do that to you. Certain ads and scripts have to be able to run to watch (sometimes Crunchyroll even gets around ad blockers).
I have a plus membership right now, so I have no ad issues. I just tried with without being logged in and it plays just fine.
Though have you tried the video playback problems link yet?
