**** bay area drivers! Hit 4th and 5th time!
I came down to Palo Alto to hang out with my friends and met them at Nola's... hung out there the whole night... and eventually made it back home....
I looked at my home and found that someone put a football-sized dent in my trunk and another hand-sized dent in the rear driver side fender!!! I need to get my dents pulled!!!!!! :-(

I'm sure it's the work of SUV's! Why do people who live in the bay area need gargantuan SUV's? Is it becuase of all the awesome offroad terrain around here? Why don't people face the fact that they live in large metropolitan.

1) Stroller.
2) 1 large bag for baby clothes.
3) 1 large bag with baby food.
All these cannot fit the Subaru (WRX or STI)
I have a baby and have faced this senerio. Then had to buy a bigger truck so got a Pilot. Now we drive the Pilot and STI and we care for others cars that is important.

i drive an suv and i was the one that hit your car. so deal with it.
i hope i see you guys on the road and i am going to aim for your cars and then drive away unharmed.
on a serious note, heavy dan, i think it probably has something to do with your driving style or parking ability that has gotten you hit 5 times. i have never gotten hit nor had a door ding while living in the bay area.

I concur.....its not the SUV's that hit you....its the moron that is in control of it that isnt paying attention, and/or doesnt know how to drive a larger than average vehicle that is at fault. Either that, or you just need to choose your parking spots better. There ARE such things as "good" parking spots and "bad" parking spots.

Taking a 4 ton monstrosity out onto soft sand is usually a recipie for "stuck".

LOL, I can tell you dont go out to Pismo Dunes all that often....and you are probably not a very avid off roader either.......There are a few others on this board that are True "wheelers" and they will vouge for me here if they read this.
the recipe for "stuck" is as follows:
Wrong type of tire + Not airing down your tires + Wrong Suspension Setup + Driver that doesnt know how to "Tread Lightly" (If you are a true offroader you will know what Tread Lightly is) = "Stuck"

NOT.
I've never been to Pismo, but I have put well over a thousand offroad miles on my WRX. Get over yourself: I'm willing to bet that I've spent more time on dirt and gravel than you have.
I'm not saying that an SUV MUST sink in soft soil. I certainly wouldn't know, as I've never gone wheelin' in one of those oversized monstrocities.
However, in my experiences out on the dirt, MOST of the other vehicles that I've encounterd stuck were SUVs driven by idiots that believed the commercials they run on TV, showing some Yukon plowing up the side of a mountain.
I'm curious whether your post was meant to be totally condecending? It definately came off that way.
bu-bye yourself,

both dents were actually very high up on the car. The car that hit me must have been lifted... or it could have been a spare tire on the back of an SUV.
When I went out to check out my car this morning a guy "just happened to be in the area" and offered to fix my dent for me.... I live down a long culdasac so it seemed kinda shady. It's possible that it was a scam and that he dented my car, followed me home, and was waiting for me to come out in the morning.
In either case, I'm pretty bummed. The sad part is that I ended up paying that guy $100 to pull out both dents... and he actually did a decent job... but now I have two dings.
The luck I've had with my subaru has been absolutely terrible... and I'm considering selling it..... :-(

hahahaha.....first off, no need to get all butthurt over there, I wasnt trying to put you down by any means.....secondly, I dont doubt that you put more "offroad" miles on your WRX than I have.....considering my suby is lowered and is setup for pavement, and has never been driven "offroad". "Wheeling" and "driving off highway/road" are two different genres.
I was referring to actual offroading....4wheeling....rock crawling...whatever you wanna call it.....I'm talking Rubicon style.....and I KNOW that your suby could not possibly come close to some of the areas I have driven my TAHOE in, if for no other reason than the fact that you dont have 12+ inches of ground clearance, 35" or bigger tires, and lockers. Oh, and BTW, I have driven my 6500+ pound SUV in the Pismo Dunes, aka. "The sand highway, (for those that have been there.)" many times, and have never been stuck in the soft sand, but have pulled many others out.
Agreed that the commercials that these truck/SUV manufacturers make, indicate that these vehicles are capable of far more than they can actually handle in stock form and is very misleading.....matter of fact, the last time I went camping up in the Sierras my friends and I found a brand new, abandoned Ford Expedition...still had dealer plates on it....that was sunk up to the bumpers in sand, and left for the wolves, it was full of clothes, empty beer cans and smelled like a horse puked inside the thing....LOL, come to find out some kid owned it got it stuck, took the keys back to the dealership and said he didnt want the truck and they had to go get it. (We called the dealership and gave them the vin number, said we found this truck abandoned, thats how we knew the story) LOL, I have pics of it, I'll post them up when I get home from work.....it was hilarious though.

i agree with Ted.
the only way your comment about SUVs being terrible off road is if you take a stock suburban or something off road. highway tires weren't meant to go off road.
oh and i don't know many 4 ton SUVs, my 4runner only comes in at 3800 pounds, just shy of 2 tons.

Dan, I don't know how your thread got jacked but I agree you had some serious bad luck with your car ever since you first got it. Sizeable dents can be expensive to fix in certain spots. Did they happen to be from the same car (did you see the same paint on both spots)?
