vf 34 or vf39?

i have a 2002 wrx with a fmic, 3 inch turbo back exhaust, pulleys, possum link em, & vishnu up-pipe an i want to get a bigger turbo. i've read about both vf 34 & 39 an i want to know which is better for max horsepower at 5000 to 7000 rpms. which one is better for both drag racing/ an auto-x. i will put sti injectors, fuel rails, fuel pump, port/poslish my intake mainfold also, an tune it accordingly. i want everyones opinion on which one is better.

the vf39 is not bigger. i believe it has a vf34 comp housing with a vf35 exh housing so spool time is good but it will still die on the top.

www.deadboltspeed.com has some really nice turbo services. they can port and polish a vf-34 or a vf 39 with their Monsterport technology. you can also get it ceramic coated to prevent heat soak. check out their site it has a lot of good information. so if you were to port and polish and ceramic coated both the vf 34 & vf 39 they both will spool up faster and make more power. I would take the vf34 over the vf39

vf39 will have more of a top end over a vf34 because of its size

I like what you did there. Can anyone add more turbos to these lists?

So what turbo would you guys consider within the $800-$1400 price range that spools up quickly but has good top end power right to redline?

I just bought the vf34 and I love it. I think the 34 has a newer bearning design than the vf39 too.

It seems like having more power in the top end would mean sacrificing some low end power... which wouldn't be good for AutoX useage. I've got a VF39 (not installed yet) but have read through the debates many times before. It seems like the VF34 has a bit more top end kick, whereas the VF39 spools up quicker. Apples vs. Oranges. Only downside to the VF39 is that Cobb doesn't have a map for it for the AP (if you're looking for one), but you can get a Protune for it (which is what I'll be doing)
