At 5 psi, yeah, you can get away with running a RRFPR. You get every last pony out of your setup, and you might not get ideal fuel economy, but it'll work for as long as you need it to.

Jgrahn555, why are you being so rude? I'm sorry, i dont mean to start a flamewar, but show some empathy. Dont be a ...meany... hes asking a question so give him a polite answer without coming off as a...meany...that doesnt mean u cant show ur opinion just dont be a ...meany...about it. i really hope you're not as rude to your friends. also, i hope being an @$$ to everyone here boosted your self-esteem. really, im serious, you're god...and we know nothing about cars compared to you. oh and your opinions are always correct and ours are always wrong. really, i mean that(in case you couldnt tell im being sarcastic)

impreza7, good luck. most of the people here are very nice, im sure you already knew that.keep us updated and post some pics. i learned a lot from reading this thread...im serious(really, no sarcasm here)

After reading all of this, I am just wondering what year Impreza7s car it. I am pretty sure that I read somewhere that the factory ECUs on the 00-01 RSs cause trouble with am AFC, learning around it, forcing one to reset their ECU like Impreza7 was doing. This, I assume, is why Ludespeed kits ship with RRFPRs instead of AFCs for 00-01 cars. Can someone add to this?

Yes, '00-'01 kits have RRFPRs. They also only run 6 psi of boost. I wouldn't really trust any more than that without some sort of closed loop control.

Well yay, I guess this is what I have to look forward to with my98 then? Do you have an Apexi S-AFC? What exactly do you do to it each time you go through this crap?

thanks

Hmm, I am just assuming it is somehow possible to tune the S-AFC in a way that doesn't required F'ing with it all of the time or resetting the ECU, else why would Ludespeed bundle it with their 98-99 kits? Using a RRFPR is fine, but since 98s don't have a MAP, I thought that is why S-AFCs are used instead.

You are correct Ilmaestro, but doing that would require research and a bit of patience to set it correctly.

Obviously some people don't want to wait.

1: get an Aeromotive adjustable FPR. The one you need for your application is ~$125 from Summit or Jegs.
2: get an E-manage. That'll run ~$600. That's the only piggyback you can use that will "take the place" of a standalone.

Hell, don't listen to me. I'm just a salty internet nerd. GO FOR IT!

E-mange is a piece of ****! Bill! Tell the guy!

For piggyback management, get a UTEC, or better yet, get an Xede.

There are good reasons for not using anything other than the stock ECU to directly control Subaru ignition coils.
