1998 RST with RRFPR?
1998 RST with RRFPR?
I noticed the Ludespeed Stage 1 kit for 98, 99 don't use a RRFPR, is there something wrong with using a MAF and a RRFPR? Or did Tom just do it to save money?
the 98 and 99 uses a MAF that is capable of seeing boost as opposed to the MAPs found in the 2000+ models that can only read to about ~2 psi before hitting fuel cut (requiring a voltage clamp to prevent the car from seeing actual boost and then just compensating with a RRFPR). with the 98/99's, the S-AFC that comes with the kit instead of the RRFPR allows you to change fuel delivery.

I have a 98, and it's not the MAF that is the problem, it's the engine, ECU, and tranny. Our MAF can handle more than the 12 psi that I've pumped through it. If you go with an S-AFC, you'll be having the same problems I'm having. Piggybacks just fool the ECU, and pop CEL for every little thing. Real engine management is much more reliable.
