A Good Turbo Kit for a 2000 2.5RS
I wanted to know a pretty good turbo kit that I can install mysel (and uncle who is a mechanic). I was looking at the TSI turbo kit with the Garrett T28 BB turbo. I am getting a 2000 2.5 RS for my first car and the 165hp just isnt gonna cut it. Would I need any electronics of course turbo timer, boost controller, ECU etc. Or what are some fundemental upgrades that I should first do before I dish out 2,800 for a kit. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Turbo kit:
turbo
turbo header
downpipe
intercooler
all necessary piping
fuel pressure regulator
oil feed line
Accessory mods:
boost gauge/egt gauge/air fuel
engine management
injectors
boost controller
gtech pro (it actually helps)
2.5 or 3 inch exhaust
tuning (by a GOOd tuner)
If u want more out of the kit:
internals
pistons
rods
cams
valve springs
although if u want the most you can get out of the kit just do the ej20 or ej25 swap. youll run into less problems

Hello?
How much does a full swap cost?
A V7 full swap that was for sale on this site for $7500 but that wasn't installed. I would double that, and then just to make sure you have everything unexpected covered, double it again.

These guys have done a lot of swaps, and have a nice breakdown on the costs/time/etc

from the link you did not look at:
Finally back as a vendor with something a little unique. Here are some pics of the latest swap that we've finished. 2004 WRX drivetrain and interior into a 2001 RS. Yes, everything has been swapped including the interior. It's got RS seats for now until the 2nd '04 WRX seat arrives.
Everything works ... it's got variable speed intermittent wipers, dimming interior lights and all of the other stuff that comes on an '04 WRX. Total cost varies on the year of the donor car (this one only had 4100 miles on it),but figure on $6500 for the entire swap for parts and labor for a donor WRX with less than 20k miles. That includes the entire drivetrain (engine, trans, rear diff), radiator and fans, AC condensor, dashboard, cruise control, exhaust, etc. If you want more power, we stock Stromung, Cobb, Helix exhausts as well as VF34's, VF39's, etc. etc. This car is totally stock and smog legal ... for now.
We're doing an STi conversion next, and that will go for approx. $13,000 for parts and labor but also includes the Brembos, steering rack, suspension, as well as the climate control system and DCCD.
Anyway, here are the pics. If you recognize the car, it used to belong to Ryan Naylor and is now owned by Estaban Juarez. We should be at the TGIM meet on Monday in Yorba Linda if you want to check it out.

$6500 for a entire drivetrain swap, and your saying 8 grand for just the motor swap?
i'm not trying to start anything but 8000 for a swap, maybe a few years ago but not now.
