2.5L block into 2003 WRX
Fellas- as I attempt to break in my motor and familiarize myself with the new suspension I wonder about the EJ205 collecting dust in my garage...
It is from a 2003 5speed Impreza.
The plans for my WRX have included a 2.5 from the start, although I am not sure if the imediat power ganes of swaping a 2.5 into a 2.0s place on an otherwise STOCK WRX would be worth the hassle of installing it/tunoing it this summer than planning on fortifiying the 2.5 block next winter...
The plans for my power involve a Utec, Toloune, and this 2.5L block.... any help you can give me will be greatly appreciated folks.

So, you want to put an EJ25 in the WRX? Ok, well, Im assuming you want to build a very strong turbo'd 2.5L motor first before you put it in the car. Leave the WRX alone for now, and save youself costs and hassle's. Build the 2.5 out of the car, take your time and do it right (you will also have a car to drive in until you 2.5 is done). Take it apart to save costs and send them to places you want to fo the work.
You will want to close (or partially close the deck), 8:1 compression, custom rods etc (heads are always good and turbo cams)...all the fun stuff, a raised redline might be a good idea as well, springs and retainers ar enesessary for this. But I personally wouldnt do the swap to the 2.5 until you are finished with it (if you are going to do internals on it, and other machining that is). Do everything on the engine you plan on doing before it goes in, trust me, you have to option to do so considering you have the WRX to drive around in all the time. Good Luck!

No need for pricey internals...
The whole point of my swap is to do something diffrent, low buck and non-detectable. Seeing as I got this motor for a song, I dont mind scattering it's peices outside of turn 2- as long as with tuning and toloune it will make more power than my 2.0.
Now- while the closed deck 2.0 is out of the car that would be the time to turn it into a very, very stout 2.2/2.5 stroker. And if I decided to build the 2.5 from ground up- it would be a 2.8 stroker.
However- if all thats standing between me and power from a 2.5 is pistons and closing off the deck then all I need is to find out how to close off the block and any oil galley mods that might help.
I understand any real power costs money, however to not use this motor as my tuning guine pig would be silly. I mean stock for stock- even without Utec or exhaust. the motor with %25 more displacment has GOT to make more power...right?
