2.2L turbo problems

I recently turbocharged my 2.2L, using legacy 92 legacy heads, and I'm having problems with the idle. It misfires and gets really rough lower than 800 rpms, but when I adjust the idle screw to correct this problem, it throws an engine code that bumps it up about 1000 revs higher. This causes my car to misfire constantly up through the power band. I've tried increasing the flow of air, but it doesn't seem to work. Also, I've tried adjusting the a/f mixture with my S-AFC, but that does little but blacken the plugs. Any thoughts would be most appreciated.

what kinda turbo are you running... i'm in a little predicament as well... maybe you can help me out cuz i have the same motor... is it easy to just turbo the car with a stock wrx turbo and intercooler?... did you have to change any internals.. and where did you get the heads from?..... also are you using your stock ecu unit?.. upgrade to the legacy turbo ecu or a legacy gt ecu... some guy with an ej22t motos did that and i figure it could be your computer?...

You can do it with a WRX turbo and intercooler, but you'll have to spend gobs of time making everything fit right. After doing this myself, I'd recommend buying one of the pre-made turbo kits on the market if you're not prepared for a true tuning experience. I got my turbo heads from searching around the area at local junkyards. Expect to pay around $300 for the heads, plus valves, headgaskets, a new waterpump, and maybe more. Also, you'll have to get custom A/C lines made, or find a way that I didn't to move them out of the way of the intercooler. You should think about a front-mount, because the intercooler was a pain in the @$$!! It involved shaving down the outlet of the intercooler and the inlet of the throttle-body just to fit in the engine bay. It results in more bang-buck, but a lot of learning and trial and error. The heads allow for higher boost, because of the bulletproof design and stronger valves, as well as effective PCV(positive crankcase ventilation). Oh, I put a twin chamber apexi BOV on and solved my previous problem. I dynoed at 257hp at 10psi. Stock heads won't allow for more than 5 psi, which dynoed at 216hp. you can e-mail me at impreza7@aol if u want to know more. Good luck

Vacuum leak? That could be cause for your poor run under 800. The throttle screw is not supposed to be adjusted , the idle speed is controlled by the air bypass valve controlled b the ecu. Sounds like you might have some air getting in that your air flow meter dosen't know about. Just a guess. The lower compression causing miss? I doubt it. Hmmm.......
AVO has a bolt on turbo kit that will work just great on 2.2L. You would need a hood scoop for the intecooler. Otherwise straight bolt in that takes one day. there is info on AVO kit at www.rallitek.com.
