06-07 2.5i Turbo Thread

I did a search in this section for any info about turbo'ing the 06+ models of the Impreza and all I came up with was this:
https://www.i-club.com/forums/showth...highlight=2006
Which is just a thread to a turbo-kit offered by vividracing.
Doesn't seem to be many answers or feedback, and just more questions.

I've been wanting to boost for a long time, but I've constantly been told that it's "not possible" to be done reliably; at least for the time being.
A swap would be nice, but it is extremely costly for us.

Please refrain from posting in this thread if you're just going to tell me or anyone else who is interested in turbo'ing their 06-07 model to trade in and buy a WRX or an STI.
This section of the forum is for Turboed NA engines.

I'd like to hear from anyone who plans on boosting their 06-07's.
Has it been done by anyone yet? Is there a direct bolt-on kit? etc. etc.

Post any feedback and questions even and hopefully we can all help each other out.
Good Luck

AVO makes a bolt on kit for the 2.5RS that can be fitted to an RS up to 07. I've got one laying around the shop and been contemplating throwing it on my car. don't think i will any time soon though

Yea, I've seen it. I've heard personally from the mechanic at my local dealership that it WILL NOT bolt up to 06+ models.
I'm not too sure I'd pay to buy that until I had everything worked out, I've tried emailing rallitek (who sells the kit) as well as AVO asking questions and have got anything in return.
That alone is leaving me with a lack of confidence in committing to the kit.

For the money you are gonna spend to make that 2.5i fast why don't you just get a 06 wrx for 17k and have a better car to drive every day, that 2.5i was never intended toi have boost, you might see problems with that car faster then you would like to.

i save $125 a month on insurance having a 2.5I vs a wrx lol.

and also read the OP...which nicely asked not to bash or point out obvious things. thanks

supposibly fits "most" subaru's. since the engine bay has yet to change much through the years, i would imagine the largest hurdle would be intercooler piping.

no it's just me...with a wrx i would have been 275 a month

and that's the cheapest place around. full coverage 22yr old with one point, not on my parents policy

Ouch man that really blows, when I got my wrx when I was 19 I was only like $200 a month on my own insurance also. When you hit 24 get a wrx and your insurance will really be a lot less.

sorry for the double post but on the topic of longevity I had a turbo kit last 45K on my 2000 RS boosting ~10lbs including surviving some really retarded mechanical work done by previous ownership.

so don't let armchair mechanics sway you. Let your income decide.

and it wouldn't hurt to get a SOA manual for the car

When I was interested in doing a Turbo upgrade to my Impreza I talked Paul Eklund at Primitive. You could talk to him about it. Their website is http://www.get-primitive.com.
