To answer your last question...
What connecting rod bushing are you talking about? The sleeve that the wrist pin slides into?
If so, then you would only need to replace them if they are measured to be out of spec. The FSM will have all of those specs and their respective tolerances.

Parts are in! WEll the crucial ones:
-engine gasket set
-water pump
-oil pump
-thermo
-clutch bearings (TO and Pilot)
-piston rings
-gates timing belt kit
-whiteline + traction
-whiteline steering rack bushings
waiting for block and internals to come back from shop to see what bearing i need and to see if those small rod end bushings i was talking about need replacing.
I will post pics soon. Last night i spent some time cleaning the OE parts ill be reusing: starter, intake mani, TB, oil pan, rocker covers, timing covers, cam pulleys, alternator and brackets, fuel line "shields?", fuel lines, etc.
Anyone who has rebuilt there SOHC RS engine: besides viually matching up all the different o-rings and gaskets, is there a better/faster/easier way to find out which o-ring is for what? they came all bundled in one bag. no labeling. worse come to worse ill take the time and match them side by side and such.
@HarryManeuvers: GOing back to what you werre saying about the washers under case bolts (water jacket) being rubber....mine look like a softish metal....

They are metal with rubber on the inside. This is what they look like:
The 2 that are at the front of each head are a little bit smaller and have a black rubber inside instead of orange.

No problem slugger.
Yea they are thinner and smaller diameter.
They go here on both heads:
Oh yea, and one more thing before I forget. Dont forget to clean out the grooves in each piston for the piston rings. Even after having them jet cleaned at the machine shop, all of my pistons still had a ton of build up/deposits in the ring grooves themselves. I had to take the dentist picks that I mentioned earlier and go around each groove in each piston and scrape/flake off all of the deposits. I was told this could keep your rings from seating. I am glad I did it because there was a TON of stuff in there.

Just make sure that the machine shop is replacing those two washers on each head because I doubt they will know to.
They are going to have to remove those bolts to do a valve job.

Any reputable machine shop vendors able to chime in? im looking for a shop that can help me go about this. id rather not run ONE oversize bearing. TIA!
