I have an 05' WRX and was wondering how you override the DTRL's. If you have pics, or know of a thread that has step-by-step instructions that would be good.

View Full Version : How do you disable DL's? Pace_Maker 04-02-2005, 12:22 AM I have an 05' WRX and was wondering how you override the DTRL's. If you have pics, or know of a thread that has step-by-step instructions that would be good. hondatraitor 04-04-2005, 11:47 PM I am not sure about '05 daytime running lights, but on an '02 this is what you can do: 1. Open your hood and revel in the beauty of your engine bay. 2. Find the Stupid Plastic Cover, which lives to the left of you engine, and just past the airbox when viewed from the front. 3. There are two Stupid Plastic Connectors that you need to turn 90 degrees to release the grip of the Stupid Plastic Cover from you engine bay. Don't drop any of this stuff, or you will get to venture deep into uncharted territory in you engine bay. 4. Don't lean on either of you fenders too hard either. You won't like what happens. 5. Underneath the SPC is your Daytime Running Lights Thingy. It is silver, and looks like one of those little bars of soap that girls are so crazy about. It is bolted to a bracket and has one connector sprouting out of the botton like some sort of hideous half-birth. 6. Unplug the connector on the bottom of the DRLT, emancipating you car from the oppression of having to have the headlights on all the time. 7. Now you must make a choice. You can either allow the DRLT to continue to live in your engine bay, so that it's evil may return one day, or you can unbolt it and throw it in you neighbors back yard. 8. Put the SPC back, and close your hood. Oh yeah, now is a good time to upgrade your turbo, suspension, and tires. Your results may vary. Don't sue me, I dont have any money. sigma pi 04-06-2005, 02:47 AM take apicture of your engine compartment on the passenger side near the turbo but the passenger side more. post it up and ill circle what needs to come out there is on the dash on the passenger side behind the glove box too on an 0203 hayakunai 04-07-2005, 02:33 AM http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/attachment.php?attachmentid=2019 Pace_Maker 04-08-2005, 12:57 PM Thanks for the info. I let a friend borrow my didgital camera so that will have to wait a few more days. #2, I'm still waiting for the right time to try that. I'll let you know how it turns out. RedlineWRX04 04-12-2005, 08:47 AM no no no no... the way you disconnect the DRL is behind your glovebox. Take your glove box out and look underneath when its out. There are three electrical plugs on the right hand side closest to the passanger door. A green one red one and a white one. Those colors might not be right but the white one is. Pull the WHITE plug out and then your done! Its pretty easy. I did it in like 5 minutes. The hardest part is getting the glovebox on and off. Enjoy :) hondatraitor 04-12-2005, 10:03 AM Oh sure you COULD disable the circuit from the glovebox, but real men work under the hood. j/k RedlineWRX04 04-12-2005, 01:41 PM HA HA HA HA nice one hayakunai 04-13-2005, 12:24 AM no no no no... the way you disconnect the DRL is behind your glovebox. DogMeat 06-24-2005, 05:37 PM The easiest way to disable them will take you 5 secs. just pull your hand brake up till it clicks one time. problem solved! ;) dizmfker 06-24-2005, 06:20 PM or you can just drive around with your e-brake up.. problem solved! Mulder 06-24-2005, 09:14 PM If you pull the brake up enough to turn the DRLs off and turn the "brake" warning light on, this will prevent the light from warning you of a failure in the brake hydraulic system. The light doesn't just indicate when the brake is up, it also comes on if the brake fluid level drops too low. With the brake pulled up that one click the light won't be able to do its job. Just disconnect the control module, it only takes a minute. |
