Engine/Power - non turbo (All non turbo Imprezas) Who needs a turbo when you have 2500cc? Cams, intakes, exhausts, etc. The 2.2L and 1.8L Subies are cool too.

GravelSports Intake

Het guys,

I have a buddy that has a great metal shop and i convinced him to try and repruduce the Gravel sport intake. But we will add acouple new mods to it, like a bottom drain to get rid of the water ingestion fear. And some others.

What I would like is some pics of the intake from the people that have one and also the specs and measurements of the intake. Also seggestions ae welcome as well.

thanks guys

Really the only mod you need to make for it is to not charge $300.

I have one though its not currently on my car (00 RS)
This thing is louder than my exhasut system! Which is borla headers, stromung free flow cat, Apxi N1 155 MM exhaust! (gonna sell soon... anyone?)
Also to note. The main air scoop on the hood is not designed
to intake a large amount of air. Even with a newer Sti intake it still does not "grab" the air. At full throttle I was sucking in engine bay air (using intake temps as reference). So if you DO make this make sure to make it so it has a stiff rubber surrond that hugs the hood when closed effectively sealing off the engine bay.
Another note would be that it does demenish low end torque except at WOT.
Having tried different CAI's the best I've come up with is using the original airbox with a 3" striaght (as possible) pipe to fender well. Which is sealed off.
Having something like the OG airbox would be something to test.
As far as drain off. Well I live in Huntsville, AL.
It rains a crap load here. I have had it before where my car would not start right off the bat becuase I parked uphill and it poor'd. All it took was another turn of the key to get it cranked. Having any type of "run off" means having an opening to the engine bay which defeats the CAi purpose.
Truthfully the best CAI/Ram intake Ive seen was one that used the left side engine cooler port (for lack of better terminology). It had a smaller molded scoop. (which since its more foward would surely draw and force more air in)
Sorry that the link is on my laptop at work and not here but Im sure
a search will produce it.

If you need the info on the Gravel Sport just let me know.
