hey, was just wondering if I could put a turbo on my 95 legacy 2.2L AWD, auto unfortunately, and where i could get it from, and cost, preferably in Canada.
And if you think theres even a point in doing it?
Im just looking to get some speed, so any other suggestions would be appreciated.
Also if anyone knows roughly how much it would cost to get a decent engine in would help. Engine + labour (in Canadian dollars)
Thanks

can it be done? sure
but generally going from NA to turbo has a few problems from a general turbo model.
First off your engine is a SOHC model with higher compression pistons than a turbo model. Turbos have DOHC and lower compression pistons.
So your not going to be able to run that much boost, maybe 6-8 psi with minimal engine management. Dont overkill it and run 14psi otherwise your gonna break your motor and hopefully just blow gaskets instead of breaking a rod.
Second off costs for kits is generally enormous, i sugguest just looking up your engine and model type on google for prices.
New engines? Crate motors generally are going to cost as much as a turbo kit new but i suppose you could goto a junkyard and build one from a block youself for alot less, that is if you had a shop and gobs of time
. With the newer motor i would worry about the ECU not being compatible. Electronics on these cars is serious $$$ from what i've seen.
Well thats just about it hope i didn't leave anything too blaringly obvious out

A turbo kit, if you put it together yourself using OEM parts, would be over $2000 (less if you take your time and luck out with good deals) and if you installed it yourself as well. An install would probably be about a grand.
A turbo motor, say a USDM swap, will be around $5-7k. A STI swap more. An old school JDM motor, less, around $3k-4k. The motors themselves are not that expensive, its mostly installation money.
Note: This is all US dollars, not canadian.
